TopWorx DVR Valve Position Monitor

Description

A compact valve position monitor with two adjustable cams

The TopWorx DVR is a valve position monitor designed to indicate the open and shut state of valves or actuators on quarter-turn equipment. The installation manual says it is not suitable for multi-turn rotation equipment. Two adjustable cam assemblies with a usable range between 0 and 90 degrees operate the switches, and the unit works in normal-acting and reverse-acting arrangements with the indicator assembly accommodating both.

Setting the cams

In normal acting, the valve is turned full clockwise to the closed position, the bottom cam is pulled towards the spring side and rotated until the first switch operates, then the valve is turned to open and the top cam is set for the second switch. Reverse-acting units reverse the open and closed positions. The cams are spring loaded and may eject forcefully when taken apart, so they should not be disassembled in normal operation. A continuity check between the normally open and common wires can be used to set M2 switches.

What to confirm before ordering

Confirm the actuator mounting pattern and bracket kit, normal or reverse action, the switch option, cable entry and gland size, and the area classification, because the DVR carries no hazardous-area approval. TopWorx notes that numerous mounting bracket kits are available, including direct NAMUR mounting, and that the installer must provide permanent sealing devices for the conduit entries.

About brand

TopWorx is the valve controls and limit switch brand of Emerson, based in Louisville, Kentucky, USA. Its products mount on valve actuators to show whether a valve is open or closed, send switch or analog signals back to the control system and, in some models, operate the actuator pilot valve. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, lists products from the manufacturer's manuals and datasheets and quotes against the exact model code.

TopWorx product groups

The documents on this site cover GO Switch leverless limit switches, the D-Series, TX-Series, TV-Series and K-Series discrete valve controllers, the DVR valve position monitor and the PD Series smart valve positioner. Options in these documents include GO Switch, mechanical and inductive sensors, 4-20 mA and HART transmitters, FOUNDATION Fieldbus, AS-i, DeviceNet and PROFIBUS communication, integrated pilots and explosion-protected enclosures.

Ordering TopWorx products: what we need

Send the full model code from the nameplate or the datasheet nomenclature, the actuator make, mounting pattern and size, the supply voltage and signal type, the hazardous-area certification and the quantity. Many options cannot be combined, so we confirm the code against the manufacturer's documentation before quoting.
