How the DOP-100 B operates

The DOP-100 B is a stand-alone terminal with a Cortex-A8 800 MHz processor. It runs a project downloaded from the configuration software over the USB slave port, and it reads and writes registers in the connected controller through its two serial ports. The USB host port can be used for tasks such as loading data from a USB drive.

Because the panel is built around serial communication, the communication scheme is straightforward: one controller or a few devices on a serial line, polled continuously, with the panel showing values and sending operator commands back. Details such as the supported protocol driver for a particular PLC brand should be confirmed against the driver list for the model before ordering, as the supplier page does not list drivers.

Where the DOP-100 B fits and related models

Delta lists packaging, textile, woodworking, rubber and plastics machinery as typical applications. The same logic applies to simple pumping skids, small process machines and utility equipment in industrial plants, where a small panel replaces push buttons and indicator lamps.

The nearest upgrade in the range is the Standard type, the DOP-300 S series (DOP-3S07S3E2 and DOP-3S10S3E2), which adds dual Ethernet ports, three serial ports, MQTT, OPC UA, EtherNet/IP and the DIACloud service. Select the DOP-100 B when a lean, economical panel is enough, and the DOP-300 S when the project needs network or cloud connectivity.

The DOP-100 B is often used with Delta temperature controllers such as DT3, DTM and DTN, using Modbus over serial communication to display set values and alarms for heating zones.

Installation and maintenance of the DOP-100 B

Cut the panel opening to the mounting dimensions, insert the unit from the front and secure it with the mounting clips from behind. To keep the IP65 rating at the front face, the gasket must be seated evenly and the cut-out edges must be clean and flat. Do not mount the panel where it will be exposed to direct sun or radiant heat.

For serial wiring, use shielded cable, keep it away from power conductors, and ground the shield at one end. Label the COM port and baud rate settings in the project documentation, because mismatched communication parameters are the most common cause of a panel showing no data.

Maintenance is limited to cleaning the front, inspecting the gasket for hardening, and keeping a verified copy of the project. A replacement of the same model can be loaded with the stored project.

Applications of the DOP-100 B in Oman and the GCC

In Oman and the GCC the Basic HMI is used on packaging lines, plastic extrusion and moulding machines, small pump and compressor packages, water treatment dosing skids and workshop equipment. The main environmental factors are heat and dust. The IP65 front face helps with dust and washdown splash at the panel surface, but the operating range of 0 to 50°C means the panel should be shaded and kept out of unventilated enclosures in summer.
