Dungs MB-DLE 405-412 B01 GasMultiBloc Combined Regulator and Safety Valves

Description

Overview

The Dungs MB-DLE 405-412 B01 is a GasMultiBloc combined regulator and safety shut-off valve assembly for single-stage gas burners. Karl Dungs designed the GasMultiBloc concept to integrate a filter, a pressure regulator, two solenoid valves and optional pressure switches in one compact fitting, so a burner manufacturer can replace several separate components with a single, pre-tested block. The Dungs MB-DLE variant adds a main volume restrictor and a slow-opening second valve, giving a controlled, soft ignition on commercial and light industrial burners.

Seven Star LLC supplies the Dungs MB-DLE to burner builders, boiler service contractors and facility maintenance teams in Oman and the GCC. As a trusted supplier with engineering support in Muscat, we help customers match nominal size, outlet spring range and coil voltage to the existing gas train, which matters when a replacement must fit an installed burner in a hotel, hospital boiler house or food plant without re-piping.

Operating Principle

Gas enters through a fine mesh-sieve dirt trap that protects the valve seats and the regulator diaphragm from pipeline debris. Valve V1 is a fast-opening, fast-closing solenoid valve to DIN EN 161 Class A Group 2. Downstream of V1 the integrated proportional regulator, built to DIN EN 88 Class A Group 2, holds the burner outlet pressure at its setpoint and compensates for residual pressure; when the unit is switched off, V1 provides the leak-tight shut-off for the regulator. Because an internal pulse tap is provided, a vent line above the roof is not required.

Valve V2 in the Dungs MB-DLE closes fast but opens slowly. A hydraulic opening delay, combined with the main volume restrictor, lets the gas flow ramp up over an adjustable time of up to 20 seconds instead of switching to full flow instantly. The practical result is a gentle light-off with lower pressure surges in the combustion chamber, which reduces flame-out risk and mechanical stress on the burner head.

Engineering Design of the Dungs MB-DLE

The housing is aluminium die casting, diaphragms and seals are NBR-based with Silopren silicone rubber, and the solenoid drive uses steel, brass and aluminium. Flanges carry pipe threads to ISO 7/1. The MB-DLE 405 and 407 bodies accept Rp 1/2 or Rp 3/4 flanges, while the 410 and 412 bodies take Rp 3/4, Rp 1 or Rp 1 1/4. In the type key, 405 and 410 have a single-seat V2 and 407 and 412 have a double-seat V2, so the larger numbers in each pair deliver more flow for the same body size.

Electrical connection is by plug to DIN EN 175301-803 for the valves and pressure switches, at 220–230 V AC, 50–60 Hz, with 100% switch-on duration and IP 54 protection. The S20 and S50 versions control both valves together; the S22 and S52 versions control them separately. Measuring and ignition gas connections are G 1/8, and a burner pressure switch can be mounted on a lateral adapter downstream of V2. The fitting can be installed with the solenoid upright, lying horizontally or at any intermediate position.

Key Features

The Dungs MB-DLE brings the following engineering advantages to a compact gas train:

  • A fine mesh-sieve dirt trap, pressure regulator and two Class A valves are combined in one compact, lightweight fitting.
  • Valve V1 opens and closes fast, while valve V2 closes fast and opens slowly through an adjustable hydraulic delay.
  • The main volume restrictor on V2 lets the commissioning engineer set the maximum burner gas flow.
  • The proportional regulator to DIN EN 88 Class A gives sensitive setting of outlet pressure with residual pressure compensation.
  • Maximum operating pressure is 360 mbar, with outlet ranges of 4–20 mbar or 4–50 mbar depending on spring version.
  • High flow rates are achieved with low pressure drop, keeping the gas train short for a given burner rating.
  • The modular concept accepts a VPS 504 valve proving system and GW pressure switches to EN 1854.
  • EU type examination covers the Gas Appliances Regulation and Pressure Equipment Directive, with approvals in other major gas-consuming countries.

Industrial Applications

The Dungs MB-DLE is used on forced-draught gas burners in commercial boilers, hot water generators, industrial dryers, bakery ovens and air heaters. It is suitable for gases of families 1, 2 and 3 and other neutral gaseous media, which covers natural gas and gaseous LPG. Note that the MB-D must not be operated below 0°C in liquid gas systems and is only suitable for the gaseous phase, because liquid hydrocarbons damage the seals; the ambient range is −15°C to +70°C, which suits enclosed plant rooms across the region.

In Oman, typical users include hotel and hospital boiler plants in Muscat, food processing lines in the Rusayl and Sohar industrial areas, and laundry and process-heat systems in Salalah. Seven Star LLC supports these sites with genuine Dungs MB-DLE units and related gas-train items such as the DUNGS VPS 504 valve proving system, the DUNGS DMV-D 507/11 double solenoid valve and the Dungs SV-D 505 safety solenoid valve, so a complete burner valve train can be sourced from one supplier in the GCC.

About brand
Open the gas train cabinet of a boiler or an industrial burner and there is a good chance the valves and pressure switches inside are marked DUNGS. Karl Dungs was founded in 1945 and is based in Urbach, Germany, and it makes gas valves and combustion controls for heating, process heat and gas engines. Seven Star LLC sources and supplies DUNGS gas valves, regulators, pressure switches and valve proving systems for burner operators in Oman, identified by type designation and article number.

DUNGS product families listed here

The listed DUNGS gas valves and controls make up most of a burner gas train. The FRS is a spring-loaded gas pressure regulator in sizes from Rp 3/8 to DN 150. The GW A6 is a compact pressure switch for gas and air. DMV-D double solenoid valves, such as the DMV-D 507/11 and DMV-D 5125/11, combine two safety shut-off valves in one body, and the SV-D is a single safety solenoid valve. The MB-DLE 405 to 412 B01 GasMultiBloc integrates a filter, a regulator and two valves in one compact unit. The VPS 504 is a valve proving system that tests the tightness of the two shut-off valves before burner start.

Where DUNGS equipment is used

DUNGS combustion controls are fitted to steam and hot water boilers, thermal oil heaters, air heaters, dryers, ovens, kilns and furnaces, and to the fuel gas lines of gas engines. Buyers in the GCC typically need them as replacements on packaged burners in food plants, laundries, hospitals and building plant rooms.

Ordering DUNGS parts: what we need

Send the full type designation and the six-digit article number from the nameplate, for example VPS 504 S04 with 219881, a 230 V version. Add the coil voltage and frequency, the connection (Rp thread or flange DN), and the maximum inlet pressure. For an FRS regulator, state the outlet pressure and the spring range or spring color. For a GW pressure switch, state the setting range, which is part of the type name. For a MultiBloc, say whether operation is single-stage or two-stage. The burner make and model help us confirm the match.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Dungs MB-DLE integrate in one housing?
The Dungs MB-DLE 405-412 B01 combines a fine mesh-sieve dirt trap, a pressure regulator to DIN EN 88 Class A, a fast-opening valve V1 and a slow-opening valve V2 to DIN EN 161 Class A Group 2. Integrating these functions in one fitting shortens the gas train and reduces the number of flanged joints that must be leak tested.
What is the difference between MB-D and MB-DLE versions?
Both have a main volume restrictor on valve V2. The MB-D opens V2 fast, while the MB-DLE adds an adjustable hydraulic opening delay so V2 opens slowly, with an opening time of up to 20 seconds, which gives a soft burner start.
Which pipe sizes and pressures does the MB-DLE 405-412 cover?
The 405 and 407 versions use Rp 1/2 or Rp 3/4 flanges, while the 410 and 412 versions use Rp 3/4, Rp 1 or Rp 1 1/4. Maximum operating pressure is 360 mbar, and the S20/S22 and S50/S52 springs give outlet pressure ranges of 4 to 20 mbar and 4 to 50 mbar.
Can a valve proving system or pressure switches be added?
Yes. Dungs permits mounting of a VPS 504 valve proving system, and GW A5, GW A2, NB A2 and UB A2 pressure switches can be fitted to EN 1854. A closed position signal contact K01/1 can be mounted on V2.
