ASCO 8210G100 2 in Brass Piston Solenoid Valve
Overview
The ASCO 8210G100 is the 2 inch NPT member of the ASCO Series 210 normally closed line: a pilot-operated brass solenoid valve with a 1 3/4 inch orifice and a flow factor of Cv 43. Where the smaller 8210 valves handle machine-level flows, this size is chosen when a whole header, a bulk transfer line or a large cooling circuit has to be opened and closed electrically. It is rated for air and inert gas, water and light oil, and it is UL listed as a general purpose valve in the Series 210 table.
Seven Star LLC supplies the ASCO 8210G100 to utilities, contractors and process plants across Oman and the GCC, with engineering support in Muscat. Large-bore solenoid valves are usually tied to a specific pipe size and voltage on site, so our engineers check the duty against the manufacturer table, including the very different AC and DC pressure limits of this model, before quoting.
Operating Principle
At this size, the Series 210 uses a piston rather than a flexible diaphragm as the main closing element, and the catalog lists the ASCO 8210G100 as construction reference 20P. A small solenoid-controlled pilot sits in the bonnet. While the coil is off, line pressure fills the chamber above the piston, and the larger area on top keeps the piston pressed onto the 1 3/4 inch seat. When the coil is energized, the pilot vents that chamber to the outlet; inlet pressure acting under the piston then drives it upward and opens the full bore, giving Cv 43, or Kv 37 in metric units.
Because the opening force comes from the process fluid, the valve needs at least 5 psi (0.3 bar) of differential pressure. The upper limit is strongly coil-dependent. With an AC solenoid the ASCO 8210G100 handles 150 psi air or inert gas, 125 psi water and 90 psi light oil; with a DC solenoid all three media are limited to 50 psi (3 bar). For high-pressure water mains this makes AC the normal choice, while DC versions suit low-pressure gravity or tank-fed systems and battery-backed control panels.
Engineering Design of the ASCO 8210G100
The ASCO 8210G100 has a brass body; a stainless steel equivalent with a 316L body is catalogued separately as 8210G129 (construction 53P). The catalog marks the brass valve with the S option, so a lead-free brass body and bonnet can be ordered with suffix LF for drinking water systems under SDWA Section 1417 and NSF/ANSI 372. Seals and discs are NBR or PTFE, with a 305 stainless steel core tube, 430F stainless steel core and plugnut and 302 stainless steel springs.
A notable design point is power consumption. Despite the 2 inch bore, the AC version uses the same 6.1 W class F solenoid as the small valves in the series, and the DC version uses an 11.6 W class H coil. Maximum fluid temperature is 180 °F (82 °C) on AC and 150 °F (65 °C) on DC. The catalog notes that constructions with NPT size 1 inch and larger are not offered with the MB mounting bracket option, so the valve is supported by the pipework itself. The standard RedHat II enclosure is watertight to Types 1, 2, 3, 3S, 4 and 4X, with an explosionproof RedHat II enclosure available as an option.
Key Features
For bulk flow switching, the ASCO 8210G100 provides:
- Full 2 inch NPT connection with a 1 3/4 inch orifice and a Cv of 43, the second-highest flow factor in the normally closed Series 210 table.
- Piston construction designed for large-bore pilot operation and long cycle life.
- Low 6.1 W AC coil power, so a large valve can be driven directly from standard control circuits.
- Ratings for air and inert gas, water and light oil in one valve.
- Stainless steel 316L sister model (8210G129) for corrosive or high-purity water.
- Lead-free brass option with suffix LF for potable water service.
- UL listed general purpose valve and CSA certified, with RedHat II meeting applicable CE directives.
- Normally closed fail-safe action that shuts the line on loss of power.
Industrial Applications
In the region, the ASCO 8210G100 is a common choice for automatic filling of storage tanks and cooling tower basins, for isolating irrigation and landscape water headers in large developments, and for switching make-up water to district cooling plants in Muscat. Industrial users in the Sohar and Salalah zones apply it to compressed air headers on production lines, process cooling water loops on extruders and moulding machines, and bulk transfer of light oils within tank farms where the 90 psi AC light oil rating is adequate.
Seven Star LLC supplies the ASCO 8210G100 alongside smaller valves in the ASCO 8210 series so that one project can draw all sizes from a single family. For refrigeration circuits we also supply valves such as the Danfoss EVR 25 servo-operated solenoid valve, and where an actuated ball or butterfly valve is preferred for very large lines, the ASCO 551 NAMUR pilot solenoid valve can be mounted on the actuator instead.

ASCO solenoid valve series listed here
Three series are listed. The ASCO 8210 series is a two-way, pilot-operated general service valve for air, water and light oil. The ASCO 327 series is a direct-operated three-way valve widely used to pilot the actuators of process valves, including shutdown valves. The ASCO 551 series is a pilot-operated spool valve with a NAMUR interface that mounts directly on quarter-turn pneumatic actuators.Ordering ASCO valves: what we need
Send the complete catalog number from the nameplate, including prefix and suffix letters, since these define the solenoid enclosure, coil and seal options. Add the coil voltage and frequency, pipe size and thread, body material, the fluid, the minimum and maximum operating pressure differential, and whether the valve is normally closed, normally open or universal. For hazardous areas, state the protection type required. Buyers in the GCC often add ambient temperature, which affects coil selection.Browse ASCO products by category: Solenoid Valve.
