Bently Nevada 3500/45 Position I/O Module – 135137-01

Description

Overview

The Bently Nevada 135137-01 is the Position I/O Module with internal terminations for the 3500/45 Position Monitor, for use with Proximitors, Rotary Position Transducers (RPTs) or DC LVDTs. It corresponds to option 01 of the 3500/45-AA-BB order code and is installed in the rear slot behind the 3500/45 monitor module (spare 176449-04).

The 3500/45 is a 4-channel monitor that conditions the transducer inputs and compares them with user-programmable alert and danger setpoints. Channels are programmed in pairs for axial (thrust) position, differential expansion (standard, single ramp, dual ramp and complementary), case expansion or valve position. AC LVDT and rotary potentiometer inputs require different I/O modules.

Key Features

  • Internal-termination I/O module: field wiring lands directly on the module
  • Supports Proximitor, RPT and DC LVDT inputs
  • Supplies -24 Vdc transducer power for Proximitors and RPTs and +15 Vdc for DC LVDTs
  • Used with the 4-channel 3500/45 monitor for thrust, differential expansion, case expansion and valve position
  • +4 to +20 mA recorder outputs proportional to monitor full-scale

Bently Nevada 3500/45 I/O Module 135137-01 System Compatibility

135137-01 is the rear I/O module only. It works with the 3500/45 Position Monitor main module (spare part 176449-04) fitted in the front slot directly ahead of it. With this I/O the monitor accepts Proximitor, Rotary Position Transducer and DC LVDT signals. AC LVDTs need a different module (139554-01 internal or 139567-01 external termination), and the external-termination version for Proximitor, RPT and DC LVDT inputs is 135145-01, which also requires separate termination blocks and cables.

For thrust position the datasheet lists these Proximitor families as supported: 3300 XL 8 mm and 11 mm, 3300 5 mm and 8 mm, 3300 16 mm HTPS, 3300 RAM, 7200 5, 8, 11 and 14 mm, and 3000 series. Differential expansion uses 25, 35 or 50 mm extended-range transducers. Case expansion with DC LVDTs is available on channels 3 and 4 only, and RPT valve position covers 100, 200 or 300 degrees full scale. Channels are configured in pairs, so channels 1-2 and 3-4 can each run one function.

Bently Nevada 135137-01 Installation and Wiring Notes

When this module is added to an older rack, the datasheet calls for at least 3500/20 Rack Interface Module firmware revision G and 3500 Rack Configuration Software 2.41; valve position with an RPT needs Configuration Software 3.00 or later. Internal- and external-termination I/O modules carry the same jumpers, so jumper settings transfer when one type replaces the other.

Individual recorder outputs are provided per channel, except for ramp and complementary-input differential expansion, and a short circuit on a recorder output does not affect monitoring.

Why Seven Star LLC

Seven Star LLC supplies Bently Nevada (Baker Hughes) 3500 series monitors and I/O modules to power, oil & gas, petrochemical and water customers across Oman and the GCC. Before quoting, we check the complete part number and the transducer types and termination style (internal or external) against the equipment already installed, so the replacement matches the existing system.

About brand

Since 1961 Bently Nevada, of Minden, Nevada, USA, has been closely tied to two things: the eddy current proximity probe and the rack-based machinery protection system. The 3500 rack is found on turbines and compressors in most large process plants.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier of Bently Nevada 3500 monitor modules, interface and communication modules, proximity probes, accelerometers and velocity transducers for operators in Oman and the GCC, with every item matched to the full part number.

Bently Nevada 3500 modules and transducers

The listed 3500 modules include the 3500/20 Rack Interface Module, the 3500/50M Tachometer, the 3500/61 Temperature and 3500/62 Process Variable monitors, the 3500/64M Dynamic Pressure monitor, the 3500/44M for aeroderivative gas turbines and the 3500/46M Hydro monitor. Reciprocating compressor monitoring is covered by the 3500/70M, 3500/72M and 3500/77M. The 3500/92 Communication Gateway and 3500/94M display link the rack to the control system. Transducers include the 3300 XL proximity probe system, the 330400 accelerometer and the 190501 Velomitor CT velocity transducer. The manufacturer's newer platform, Orbit 60, is offered as the modernization path for 3500 racks, and System 1 software handles diagnostics.

Where Bently Nevada vibration monitoring is used

Steam and gas turbines, generators, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, large pumps, hydro units and cooling tower fans in oil and gas, power generation, petrochemical and mining plants are the usual machines. Measurements include radial vibration, thrust position, speed, phase, differential expansion, bearing temperature, rod position and cylinder pressure.

Ordering Bently Nevada parts: what we need

Send the complete part number with every option field, for example 330103-00-05-10-01-00 for a probe or the 3500 module number with its option dashes, plus the matching I/O module number. For probe systems state probe series, system length and the hazardous area approval. A photo of the label avoids transcription errors, and for rack modules the firmware revision is useful.

Frequently Asked Questions
