Bently Nevada 1900/65A General Purpose Equipment Monitor
Description
Overview
The Bently Nevada 1900/65A, also listed as the 1900/65 General Purpose Equipment Monitor, is a stand-alone, low-cost monitor for continuous monitoring and protection of general-purpose machines and processes. It is typically used on balance-of-plant equipment where a rack-based protection system is not justified.
The monitor has four transducer inputs and four temperature inputs. Its outputs are six relays, four 4-20 mA recorder outputs and a dedicated buffered output. All settings are made in the 1900 Configuration software and downloaded to the monitor over its built-in Ethernet connection. The monitor keeps the configuration in non-volatile memory.
Key Features
- Four transducer inputs (channels 1-4), configurable by software for 2- or 3-wire accelerometers, velocity sensors or proximity sensors
- Four temperature inputs (channels 5-8) for Type E, J, K and T thermocouples and 2- or 3-wire RTDs
- Six SPDT relays, which can be driven by the OK, Alert and Danger status of any channel or combination of channels
- Four 4-20 mA recorder outputs, each assignable to any variable on any channel
- Optional Modbus Gateway over Ethernet and a software-configurable RS232/485 serial port
- Optional display and keypad module, which can be mounted up to 75 m (250 ft) from the monitor
- Mounting on DIN rail or bulkhead, or in an optional NEMA 4X/IP66 fibreglass weatherproof enclosure

Bently Nevada 1900/65A Ordering Code and Options
The full part number has the form 1900/65A-AA-BB-CC-DD-EE. AA is the power option: 00 for direct 18 to 36 Vdc supply, 01 for 110 to 220 Vac using an external power supply. BB is the display: 00 none, 01 display attached to the monitor, 02 or 03 display with a 10 ft PVC cable (assembled or unassembled), 04 or 05 the same with a TEF cable.
CC sets the mounting: 00 none, 01 DIN rail, 02 bulkhead plate, 03 fibreglass NEMA 4X/IP66 housing with a window in the door, 04 a kit for replacing an older 1900/55 in its existing weatherproof housing (this kit needs power option 01), and 07 a ProTIM housing with wiring and mounting hardware. DD is approvals (00 none, 01 multiple approvals) and EE is communications (00 none, 01 Modbus).
The configuration software is supplied with every monitor. A unit bought without Modbus can be upgraded later with the 1900/01 Communications Upgrade.
Bently Nevada 1900/65A Installation and Wiring Notes
The monitor itself is not certified for Class I Division 1 areas, but transducers located in Division 1 can be connected through galvanic isolators or zener barriers. For zener barriers a removable ground jumper separates circuit common from chassis so that the chassis can be earthed at the barrier. In hazardous-area installations the relay contacts must be kept below 30 Vac rms or 30 Vdc and below 5 A.
The Inhibit/Trip Multiply and Reset inputs are dry-contact inputs. Each relay can be set latching or non-latching and normally energised or de-energised, with up to 50 logic operands per relay. Field wiring is shown in Bently Nevada drawing 173089.

About brand
Since 1961 Bently Nevada, of Minden, Nevada, USA, has been closely tied to two things: the eddy current proximity probe and the rack-based machinery protection system. The 3500 rack is found on turbines and compressors in most large process plants.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier of Bently Nevada 3500 monitor modules, interface and communication modules, proximity probes, accelerometers and velocity transducers for operators in Oman and the GCC, with every item matched to the full part number.
Bently Nevada 3500 modules and transducers
The listed 3500 modules include the 3500/20 Rack Interface Module, the 3500/50M Tachometer, the 3500/61 Temperature and 3500/62 Process Variable monitors, the 3500/64M Dynamic Pressure monitor, the 3500/44M for aeroderivative gas turbines and the 3500/46M Hydro monitor. Reciprocating compressor monitoring is covered by the 3500/70M, 3500/72M and 3500/77M. The 3500/92 Communication Gateway and 3500/94M display link the rack to the control system. Transducers include the 3300 XL proximity probe system, the 330400 accelerometer and the 190501 Velomitor CT velocity transducer. The manufacturer's newer platform, Orbit 60, is offered as the modernization path for 3500 racks, and System 1 software handles diagnostics.
Where Bently Nevada vibration monitoring is used
Steam and gas turbines, generators, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, large pumps, hydro units and cooling tower fans in oil and gas, power generation, petrochemical and mining plants are the usual machines. Measurements include radial vibration, thrust position, speed, phase, differential expansion, bearing temperature, rod position and cylinder pressure.
Ordering Bently Nevada parts: what we need
Send the complete part number with every option field, for example 330103-00-05-10-01-00 for a probe or the 3500 module number with its option dashes, plus the matching I/O module number. For probe systems state probe series, system length and the hazardous area approval. A photo of the label avoids transcription errors, and for rack modules the firmware revision is useful.
