Bently Nevada 32000-00-00-04-470-01-02 Proximity Probe Housing

Description

Overview

The Bently Nevada 32000-00-00-04-470-01-02 is a metric proximity probe housing assembly from the Bently Nevada 31000/32000 family. These housings are recommended when a proximity probe has to be mounted through the machine case, most often for radial vibration or Keyphasor measurements. The housing gives external access to the probe and its extension cable, so the gap can be adjusted or the probe replaced without dismantling the machine.

Under the metric ordering code 32000-AA-BB-CC-DDD-EE-FF, this part number breaks down as follows:

  • 00: no probe included
  • 00: no probe cable included
  • 04: 40 mm standoff adapter
  • 470: 470 mm probe penetration
  • 01: one M25 fitting and two plugs
  • 02: 3/4-14 NPT mounting thread

The probe is ordered separately. The 3/4-14 NPT mounting thread is required when a standoff adapter is ordered.

Key Features

  • Glass-reinforced PPS thermoplastic housing with conductive fibres for electrostatic dissipation
  • AISI 304 stainless steel sleeve and retaining chain, with AISI 303 stainless steel outer sleeve and exterior screws
  • CSA-certified Type 4X rating and IP66 rating
  • External access for probe gapping and replacement without machine disassembly
  • Seals differential pressure between the probe tip and the housing body when used with a 3300 XL 8 mm probe
  • Housing impact strength certified by BASEEFA

The datasheet requires additional sleeve support near the probe when the standoff adapter length plus the probe penetration exceeds 305 mm, to prevent resonance. With 40 mm plus 470 mm, this configuration is above that limit. The housing is sealed against hose-directed water but is not designed to resist internal or external pressure.

Applications

  • Radial vibration and Keyphasor probe mounting on steam and gas turbines, compressors and pumps
  • Installations where the probe must pass through the machine casing to reach the shaft
  • Replacement of damaged or corroded housings on rotating equipment in refineries, gas plants and power stations

Bently Nevada 32000 Ordering Code and Options

The metric housing is coded 32000-AA-BB-CC-DDD-EE-FF. In 32000-00-00-04-470-01-02, A = 00 means no probe is supplied and B = 00 means no probe cable. C = 04 is a 40 mm standoff adapter, the shortest offered; adapters run to 200 mm in 10 mm steps. D = 470 is a 470 mm probe penetration, within the 25 to 760 mm range ordered in 1 mm steps. E = 01 is one M25 fitting with two plugs, and F = 02 is a 3/4-14 NPT mounting thread, which is mandatory whenever a standoff adapter is ordered.

Standoff plus penetration here is 510 mm. That is beyond the 394 mm limit for a 0.5 m probe lead, so a probe with a 1.0 m lead (limit 760 mm) has to be used. It is also above 305 mm, where Bently Nevada requires additional sleeve support near the probe to avoid resonance; the listed accessory is probe support / oil seal 37948-01.

Probe choices the housing can be ordered with are 3300 XL 8 mm, 3300 XL NSv and 3300 XL 11 mm.

Bently Nevada 32000 Installation Notes

The datasheet sequence is: fit the outer sleeve into the machine case, insert the probe sleeve and set the gap, disconnect the probe cable and place the housing over the outer sleeve, slide the retainer under the retaining nut and tighten it, reconnect the cable and connector protector, then fit the cover and tighten the captive screws. All four holes in the housing base accept a sleeve, conduit fitting or cable gland; unused holes are closed with the supplied plugs. The housing gives mechanical and weather protection only and is not explosion-proof.

Why Seven Star LLC

Seven Star LLC supplies Bently Nevada transducer hardware to rotating equipment teams across Oman and the GCC. A housing cannot be shimmed to fit a different casing. Before quoting, we therefore check the complete part number, standoff length, probe penetration and mounting thread against your machine drawing or the existing housing.

About brand

Since 1961 Bently Nevada, of Minden, Nevada, USA, has been closely tied to two things: the eddy current proximity probe and the rack-based machinery protection system. The 3500 rack is found on turbines and compressors in most large process plants.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier of Bently Nevada 3500 monitor modules, interface and communication modules, proximity probes, accelerometers and velocity transducers for operators in Oman and the GCC, with every item matched to the full part number.

Bently Nevada 3500 modules and transducers

The listed 3500 modules include the 3500/20 Rack Interface Module, the 3500/50M Tachometer, the 3500/61 Temperature and 3500/62 Process Variable monitors, the 3500/64M Dynamic Pressure monitor, the 3500/44M for aeroderivative gas turbines and the 3500/46M Hydro monitor. Reciprocating compressor monitoring is covered by the 3500/70M, 3500/72M and 3500/77M. The 3500/92 Communication Gateway and 3500/94M display link the rack to the control system. Transducers include the 3300 XL proximity probe system, the 330400 accelerometer and the 190501 Velomitor CT velocity transducer. The manufacturer's newer platform, Orbit 60, is offered as the modernization path for 3500 racks, and System 1 software handles diagnostics.

Where Bently Nevada vibration monitoring is used

Steam and gas turbines, generators, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, large pumps, hydro units and cooling tower fans in oil and gas, power generation, petrochemical and mining plants are the usual machines. Measurements include radial vibration, thrust position, speed, phase, differential expansion, bearing temperature, rod position and cylinder pressure.

Ordering Bently Nevada parts: what we need

Send the complete part number with every option field, for example 330103-00-05-10-01-00 for a probe or the 3500 module number with its option dashes, plus the matching I/O module number. For probe systems state probe series, system length and the hazardous area approval. A photo of the label avoids transcription errors, and for rack modules the firmware revision is useful.
