Bently Nevada 141377-01 1701/06 Isolator Terminal Base (ITB)

Description

Overview

The Bently Nevada 141377-01 is the 1701/06 Isolator Terminal Base (ITB), part of the Bently Nevada 1701 FieldMonitor machinery protection system. FieldMonitor is a distributed, skid-mountable system that monitors radial vibration, thrust position and casing vibration. It connects to the host control system through Allen-Bradley Flex I/O network adapters.

The ITB is used together with the 170190 Dual Galvanic Isolator. This combination allows intrinsically safe transducer installations without external safety barriers or an intrinsically safe ground. The ITB and its modules must be located in a non-hazardous, Division 2 or Zone 2 area. The connected transducers may be in Division 1, Zone 1 or Zone 0 areas. For installations that do not need intrinsic safety, the standard 1701/05 Terminal Base is used instead.

Key Features

  • Hazardous-area terminal base for the 1701 FieldMonitor system
  • Accepts up to four 2-channel monitor modules, each with its own 170190 galvanic isolator and transducer I/O module
  • One dedicated Keyphasor channel with its own isolator; a separate base is needed for each shaft rotative speed
  • Field wiring terminals are intrinsically safe when galvanic isolators are installed
  • Buffered dynamic outputs on 8 coaxial connectors and a 25-pin D-sub, plus a buffered Keyphasor output
  • Flexbus connectors for direct connection to Allen-Bradley Flex I/O modules
  • Bulkhead mounting, which can also be mounted over a 35 mm low-profile DIN rail

Bently Nevada 1701/06 Isolator Terminal Base System Compatibility

Within the FieldMonitor system there are two terminal bases. The 1701/05 is for transducers in non-hazardous, Division 2 or Zone 2 areas, or for installations using external safety barriers. The 1701/06 Isolator Terminal Base is the version used with 170190 Dual Galvanic Isolators when transducers sit in Division 1 or Zone 1 areas and an intrinsically safe installation is wanted without external barriers.

A working system needs at least one terminal base, a 1701/10 24 V DC power supply, a network adapter and one two-channel monitor with its transducer I/O module. On the 1701/06 each internal Proximitor or transducer I/O module is paired with its own dual galvanic isolator, and the Keyphasor input has an isolator and I/O module of its own. The base has four monitor slots.

The base connects physically to Allen-Bradley 1794 Flex I/O, so it can share a network adapter with other Flex I/O modules, and the host controller treats the FieldMonitor as an intelligent I/O node.

Bently Nevada 1701/06 Selection Notes

Each terminal base accepts only one Keyphasor transducer, so machine trains with more than one shaft speed need a separate base per speed, and further bases are added when more than eight channels are required. Selected proximity probes can be connected directly through internal Proximitor modules (170133 for 3300, 170150 for 3300 NSv, 170172 for 7200) without an external Proximitor sensor; other transducers go through the 170180 external transducer I/O module. Adding the 1701/22 Management Interface Module gives waveform capture during start-up and shutdown over a separate Ethernet link.

Why Seven Star LLC

Seven Star LLC supplies Bently Nevada monitoring hardware to rotating equipment and maintenance teams across Oman and the GCC. Before quoting, we check the base model, the installed monitor, isolator and transducer I/O modules, and the hazardous-area installation drawing against your FieldMonitor configuration.

About brand

Since 1961 Bently Nevada, of Minden, Nevada, USA, has been closely tied to two things: the eddy current proximity probe and the rack-based machinery protection system. The 3500 rack is found on turbines and compressors in most large process plants.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier of Bently Nevada 3500 monitor modules, interface and communication modules, proximity probes, accelerometers and velocity transducers for operators in Oman and the GCC, with every item matched to the full part number.

Bently Nevada 3500 modules and transducers

The listed 3500 modules include the 3500/20 Rack Interface Module, the 3500/50M Tachometer, the 3500/61 Temperature and 3500/62 Process Variable monitors, the 3500/64M Dynamic Pressure monitor, the 3500/44M for aeroderivative gas turbines and the 3500/46M Hydro monitor. Reciprocating compressor monitoring is covered by the 3500/70M, 3500/72M and 3500/77M. The 3500/92 Communication Gateway and 3500/94M display link the rack to the control system. Transducers include the 3300 XL proximity probe system, the 330400 accelerometer and the 190501 Velomitor CT velocity transducer. The manufacturer's newer platform, Orbit 60, is offered as the modernization path for 3500 racks, and System 1 software handles diagnostics.

Where Bently Nevada vibration monitoring is used

Steam and gas turbines, generators, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, large pumps, hydro units and cooling tower fans in oil and gas, power generation, petrochemical and mining plants are the usual machines. Measurements include radial vibration, thrust position, speed, phase, differential expansion, bearing temperature, rod position and cylinder pressure.

Ordering Bently Nevada parts: what we need

Send the complete part number with every option field, for example 330103-00-05-10-01-00 for a probe or the 3500 module number with its option dashes, plus the matching I/O module number. For probe systems state probe series, system length and the hazardous area approval. A photo of the label avoids transcription errors, and for rack modules the firmware revision is useful.
