Bently Nevada 2300/20 and 2300/25 Vibration Monitors
Overview
The Bently Nevada 2300 Vibration Monitors, models 2300/20 and 2300/25, give cost-effective continuous vibration monitoring and protection for machinery that is important to production but does not justify a full rack-based protection system. Baker Hughes designed them for medium to low criticality and spared machines in oil and gas, power generation, water treatment, pulp and paper, manufacturing, mining and cement. Each monitor combines two vibration channels, a speed channel for time-synchronous measurements, two alarm relays, a local display and Ethernet connectivity in a 5 by 5 by 3 inch package for panel or DIN rail mounting.
Seven Star LLC supplies the Bently Nevada 2300 to maintenance and reliability teams across Oman and the GCC who want to bring balance-of-plant pumps, fans, blowers and motors under continuous monitoring. Our engineers in Muscat help choose between the 2300/20 and 2300/25, select compatible accelerometers or proximity probes, and specify the hazardous area approvals option where the monitor is installed in a classified area.
Measurement Principle
The two vibration inputs are sampled synchronously by independent 24-bit converters, so waveforms from both channels can be compared for diagnostics. For accelerometers the monitor supplies a constant current source and accepts scale factors from 5 to 1000 mV/g, with a configurable band-pass filter between 0.2 Hz and 20 kHz and full scale up to 80 g peak. For velocity sensors the scale factor range is 5 to 1000 mV per in/s, and for proximity transducers the monitor provides the supply voltage and measures radial vibration up to 160 mils peak to peak or thrust position. Measurements include acceleration peak and RMS, velocity peak and RMS, displacement peak to peak and RMS, and speed, each with alarm setpoints.
The speed and Keyphasor channel supports multiple events per revolution, proximity switches and magnetic pickups, covering speeds up to 120,000 rpm depending on the sensor type. When a setpoint is crossed the Bently Nevada 2300 operates its relays, lights the alert or danger LED and, when connected to System 1 Evolution, sends high-resolution alarm data including pre-event and post-event trends, spectra and waveforms. Monitor bypass, configuration lockout and latched alarm reset are available through local contact inputs, giving operators positive control during maintenance.
Engineering Design of the Bently Nevada 2300
The Bently Nevada 2300 is powered from 18 to 36 V dc with a maximum consumption of 7.5 W and operates from -30 °C to +65 °C, which suits field enclosures in hot climates. Three buffered transducer outputs on BNC connectors, including the Keyphasor signal, let technicians connect portable analysers without disturbing the field wiring, and the buffers protect the inputs against short circuits and interference. Two single pole, double throw relays rated for 6 A at 250 V ac can be configured normally energised or de-energised, and LEDs show module OK, protection fault, user inhibit, bypass, relay status, communication activity and speed channel status.
Configuration of the Bently Nevada 2300 is done over 10/100 Base-T Ethernet using the included Bently Nevada Monitor Configuration software with RSA encryption, and Modbus over Ethernet is available for plant systems. The 2300/20 adds two 4-20 mA outputs with internal loop power and 0 to 600 ohm load capability, while the 2300/25 provides a Trendmaster SPA interface. Kits are available with fibreglass housings for non-hazardous areas or stainless steel housings for hazardous areas, together with AM3100 accelerometers and cables.

Industrial Applications
The Bently Nevada 2300 is well suited to cooling water pumps, seawater lift pumps, booster pumps, cooling tower fans, air handling fans, blowers, small compressors and electric motors where a two-channel monitor fits the sensor count. In Oman typical installations include utility pumps in oil field gathering stations, transfer pumps in tank farms, process pumps at desalination plants, fans and blowers in cement plants and water treatment works across Muscat, Sohar and Salalah. Typical sensor choices include the Bently Nevada 330400 accelerometer and the Bently Nevada 190501 Velomitor CT velocity transducer for low-speed machines.
Seven Star LLC supports these customers with model selection and sourcing support from Muscat. For machines with existing velocity sensors such as the Bently Nevada 330500 Velomitor piezo-velocity sensor, we help users in Oman and the GCC confirm compatibility and configure the Bently Nevada 2300 to match their alarm philosophy.
