Brand: Badger Meter
Badger Meter Type 807 Research Control Low Flow Control Valve
Description
Overview
The Badger Meter Type 807 is a small, high-precision control valve for critical control of liquid, gas or steam at very low flow rates. Together with the closely related Type 752, which the same data sheet covers along with the RC200, RC220 and RC250 versions, it has served some of the most demanding applications for more than 60 years. It is built for line sizes of 1 inch and under, in 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and 1 inch models, and it is an integral part of systems ranging from petrochemical production to pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Plants in Oman use this type of valve for additive and chemical injection, gas and liquid sampling, laboratory and pilot facilities and precision pressure regulation, where larger control valves cannot throttle small flows reliably. Seven Star LLC supplies the Badger Meter Type 807 on request with engineering support in Muscat, along with actuators and accessories, so engineers can specify the valve and its control package together.
Low Flow Throttling Principle
The Badger Meter Type 807 is a globe-style valve in which a stem-mounted plug, the innervalve, moves relative to a seat to throttle the flow. At the heart of the design is a very large catalogue of trim sets. Trims run from a maximum Cv of 6.0 through lettered sizes A to O and a series of micro-flow P trims, ending at P17 with a Cv of 0.0000027 and an orifice diameter of 0.042 inch (1.1 mm), which lets the valve control flows that would be lost in the noise of a conventional valve.
Flow characteristics can be linear, equal percentage, quick opening or double taper, and rangeability is listed from 50:1 or 60:1 on the largest trims to 15:1 on the micro-flow trims. Trims from size O and larger give ANSI Class IV shutoff. Because trim sets are interchangeable, the same body can be re-trimmed when process conditions change.
Engineering Design of the Badger Meter Type 807
Body and bonnet are standard 316 or 316L stainless steel or carbon steel, with Monel, Alloy 20, Hastelloy C or equivalent ASTM materials as options and other materials on request. The innervalve is 316 stainless steel as standard, with Stellite, Monel, Alloy 20 or Hastelloy options. Packing is TFE chevron rings as standard, with graphite and reduced emission Kalrez options. A threaded bonnet allows quick disassembly, and options include butt and socket weld ends, BSPP and tube connections, bellows packing, angle pattern bodies, bonnet extensions, purge or leak ports and TiN coating of the stem and seat.
The pressure and temperature ratings are generous for the size. The 1/4 inch and 1/2 inch Badger Meter Type 807 bodies in 316 stainless steel are rated to 5,000 psi (345 bar) at 100 °F, and 3/4 inch and 1 inch bodies to 1,500 psi (103 bar). Ratings extend to very high temperatures for suitable alloys, with consultation required above the published values. Actuators are die cast aluminum as standard with air-to-open or air-to-close action, optional 316L stainless steel construction, and an optional integral top-mounted positioner.
Key Features
The following capabilities distinguish the Badger Meter Type 807:
- Four body sizes, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and 1 inch, with interchangeable trim sets across the range.
- Micro-flow trims down to Cv 0.0000027 for precise control of extremely small flows.
- Body pressure ratings up to 5,000 psi (345 bar) for the 1/4 and 1/2 inch sizes in 316 stainless steel.
- Standard 316 stainless steel and carbon steel bodies, with Monel, Alloy 20 and Hastelloy options for corrosive service.
- Stellited trims, PTFE and Kel-F soft seats and TiN coating options for wear and tight shutoff.
- Bellows packing, graphite packing and reduced emission Kalrez packing for demanding sealing requirements.
- Butt weld, socket weld, BSPP and tube end connections for compact skid piping.
- Pneumatic actuators with standard signals of 3-15, 3-27 and 6-30 psi, plus filter regulators, I/P converters, limit switches and handwheels.
Industrial Applications
Processing plants, research facilities and government agencies worldwide use Research Control Valves for repeatable performance and durability. The Badger Meter Type 807 is described by the manufacturer as an ideal choice for additive injection and for flow and pressure control. In Oman that translates to corrosion inhibitor and chemical injection at oil and gas wells and pipelines, fuel gas and instrument gas control, control of small steam lines and dosing in desalination and water treatment plants.
Small valves such as the Badger Meter Type 807 also serve utilities, laboratories and pilot units in industrial areas around Sohar, Salalah and Muscat. Seven Star LLC supplies the Badger Meter Type 807 together with larger control valves and positioning hardware, including the SAMSON Type 3241 globe control valve, the Masoneilan SVI3 digital valve positioner and the Fisher CV500 eccentric plug control valve, so a project can obtain valves and accessories from one place.

About brand
Water utilities know Badger Meter first for its Recordall mechanical meters, and process engineers for its ModMAG electromagnetic flow meters. The Milwaukee company has made flow measurement equipment since 1905. Seven Star LLC lists Badger Meter Recordall Compound and Turbo Series water meters and the ModMAG M2000, and supplies Badger Meter flow meters to utilities, contractors and plants in Oman and the GCC.
Badger Meter product families on this page
Recordall Turbo Series meters are turbine meters for potable cold water in commercial and industrial service, in sizes from 1-1/2 to 12 in. Recordall Compound Series meters combine a turbine chamber for high flow with a positive displacement chamber for low flow, so the meter keeps registering when demand drops to a trickle. The ModMAG M2000 is an electromagnetic meter with no moving parts in the flow, for water, wastewater and other conductive liquids, with outputs such as Modbus RTU, HART, Profibus DP, BACnet and EtherNet/IP.
Ordering Badger Meter flow meters: what we need
State the line size, flow range, liquid and its temperature and pressure. For Recordall meters add the register type and units (gallons, cubic feet or cubic meters) and the end connections. For the ModMAG M2000 add liner and electrode material, flange standard, integral or remote amplifier, supply voltage and the communication protocol.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Badger Meter Type 807 offers trim sets from a maximum Cv of 6.0 down to micro-flow trims in the P series, ending at a Cv of 0.0000027 on the 1/4 inch valve. That range lets it throttle very small liquid, gas or steam flows that larger valves cannot control.
Body sizes are 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and 1 inch. Standard bodies are 316 or 316L stainless steel or carbon steel, with Monel, Alloy 20 and Hastelloy C as options and other materials available on request.
The valve superstructure in 316 stainless steel is rated to 5,000 psi (345 bar) at 100 degrees Fahrenheit for the 1/4 and 1/2 inch sizes and 1,500 psi (103 bar) for the 3/4 and 1 inch sizes. Ratings decrease with temperature, so check the published charts for your service.
The Type 807 is a small body for 1 inch and smaller lines with very high pressure ratings and micro-flow trims. The Type 1499 is a flanged valve in 3/4 and 1 inch sizes with Class 150 or 300 raised face flanges for dropping into flanged pipelines.
