ABB ACS480-04-026A-4 General Purpose Drive 11 kW 25 A

Description

11 kW module drive on frame R3

ACS480-04-026A-4 is an ABB ACS480 general purpose drive in module construction for three-phase 380 to 480 V supplies. The hardware manual lists 11 kW at 25 A nominal output on frame R3, a body 172 mm wide, 220 mm high and 208 mm deep that weighs 2.5 kg in IP20 form. At 11 kW it completes frame R3 and covers heavier conveyor and mixer duties.

Basic equipment covers a cold configuration adapter connection for CCA-01, a front option slot and a side option slot, a standard ACS-AP-S assistant control panel and an RIIO-01 module with digital, analog and relay I/O plus EIA-485. Related products sit in AC drives; the wall-mounted sister platform is on the ABB ACS580 page.

Ratings and overload of the ACS480-04-026A-4

For a pump or fan, light duty at 23.8 A (11 kW) normally applies; for conveyors or mixers with high starting torque, use heavy duty, 17 A (7.5 kW). ABB lists a maximum current of 30.6 A. Input current is 31.8 A without choke and 25 A with choke.

Upstream protection: 50 A gG (OFAF000H50, I2t 15500 A2s) or 80 A gR (170M2699); a breaker option is S 203P-B 50. Heat loss is about 390 W (1331 BTU/h) and air flow 128 m3/h, with noise of 66 dB(A).

Derating matters in warm or high-frequency applications: the factor for this type is 0.67 at 8 kHz and 0.51 at 12 kHz. At +50 to +60 degrees C the output current falls by 1% per additional degree, and above 1000 m by 1% per 100 m. ABB permits 4 kHz without derating.

Physical data: frame R3, 172 x 220 x 208 mm, 2.5 kg, free space 75 mm above and below. UL Type 1 kit adds hood and connection box (329 mm, 3.2 kg). Cable guidance: 100 m maximum for operation, and for EMC 30 m for category C3 and 10 m for C2 with the internal filter, or 40 m for C1, C2 and C3 with the optional external filter.

Options that change the order

ACS480-04-026A-4 is composed of ACS480 (series), 04 (module), 026A (size) and 4 (input voltage). Typical additions are K491 for FMBT-21 Modbus/TCP, K492 for FPNO-21 PROFINET IO, L511 for the BREL-01 relay module and L515 for the BIO-01 I/O module; ABB also offers printed manuals in several languages through R700-series codes.

Other manual data: a short-circuit proof motor output, natural convection on R0 and a cooling fan on R1 to R4, a choice of an IEC type or a UL (NEC) type for North America and an input frequency of 47 to 63 Hz.

Datasheet and ordering notes

All figures come from ABB’s ACS480 general purpose drives hardware manual (3AXD50000047392, revision F), linked on this page. Seven Star LLC supplies the ACS480-04-026A-4 on request from Muscat; send the motor nameplate, supply voltage and fieldbus needs with your RFQ and the quotation states availability and lead time.

Confirm before ordering: the exact type code and options, motor current at your voltage, the cabinet cooling and the derating for site temperature and altitude.

About brand

ABB is the Swiss-Swedish engineering group for electrification and automation: low voltage drives, motors, circuit breakers and motor control, process instruments and analysers, control systems and robots. It was formed on 5 January 1988 by the merger of two older companies. ASEA was founded in Västerås, Sweden, in 1883 by Ludvig Fredholm to make electric lighting and generators. BBC Brown Boveri was founded in Baden near Zurich in 1891 by Charles E. L. Brown and Walter Boveri. ABB Ltd is incorporated in Switzerland, headquartered in Zurich and listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange and Nasdaq Stockholm.

Choosing an ABB drive

ABB's ACS drive codes are easy to read once you know the pattern. In ACS580-01-046A-4, "ACS580" is the drive family, "01" means a wall-mounted single drive, "046A" is the rated output current (about 46 A) and "-4" means a 380–480 V supply. The family is chosen by application: ACS355 for compact machinery, ACS310 for simple pumps and fans, ACS580 as the general-purpose drive, ACQ580 for water and wastewater with pump functions such as pipe fill and dry-run protection, and ACS880 for heavy industrial duty with direct torque control. Size the drive on the motor's full-load current, not only its kW rating, and allow derating for the high ambient temperatures common in Gulf electrical rooms.

Where ABB products are used

In Oman and the GCC, ABB drives and motors run pumps, fans and compressors in water and wastewater plants, district cooling, oil and gas and industry. ABB flowmeters, level instruments and analysers are used in water utilities, power and desalination plants and refineries, and SACE breakers protect switchboards in buildings and plants.
