Pfannenberg DTT 6201 230V SC Top-Mount Cooling Unit, 1 kW

Description

DTT 6201 230V SC cooling unit: decoded part number

The DTT 6201 230V SC is a roof-mounted cooling unit of 1 kW class from Pfannenberg. It sits on top of the enclosure and cools the cabinet interior through cut-outs in the roof, leaving the doors and side panels free for access, for cable entries and for other equipment.

Decoded: DTT = top-mounted cooling unit, 6201 = installation size and performance class, 230V = single-phase supply and SC = Standard Controller. The order number is 13256241055.

How the DTT 6201 230V SC works

The unit has a closed refrigeration circuit. The evaporator side draws cabinet air up through the roof opening, cools it and sends it back down, while the condenser side carries heat away on a separate air path above the cabinet roof. Because the refrigerant circuit is hermetic, the enclosure keeps its protection class.

Condensate is handled by a patented management system that the manufacturer describes as giving four-fold protection against condensate, with an integrated evaporation system and a safety overflow. The manufacturer also states a quick-installation frame that allows tool-less mounting and a front cover that can be removed completely for service access to filter mats and controls.

The noise level of 62 dB(A) is typical for a compressor unit of this size; keep it in mind for control rooms with permanently staffed workplaces.

Fit in the system and related Pfannenberg parts

The DTT 6000 series spans three installation sizes and six performances, 500 to 1080 W according to the sheet, so the 6201 is the larger of two sub-series next to the 6101.

Selection and ordering checklist for the DTT 6201 230V SC

Before ordering the DTT 6201 230V SC, settle the following points so that the right variant is quoted:

  • Heat load and target temperature; capacity at +50 °C ambient is 600 to 640 W
  • Roof space for a 588 mm x 393 mm unit and the necessary clear air for the external circuit
  • Supply voltage and phase: 230 V single-phase
  • Controller type SC or MC and whether a filter mat is needed
  • Finish: V2A stainless-steel version available for some variants

Installation, commissioning and maintenance of the DTT 6201 230V SC

Top-mounted units are fitted on a roof cut-out using the quick-installation frame. Make sure that the roof can carry the weight and that there is clear space above and around the unit so that the external air can flow freely; blocked louvres are a common cause of high-pressure trips.

Start-up consists of connecting the plug, setting the temperature, and checking that the condensate runs away through the integrated evaporation system. Check that the cabinet is closed and that all unused cut-outs are blanked.

  • Inspect the optional filter mats and condenser area regularly
  • Verify condensate evaporation after prolonged operation in humid conditions
  • Check for blocked air path above the roof
  • Use qualified refrigeration personnel for service of the sealed circuit

Typical applications in Oman and the GCC

Top-mounted units are used where side walls are crowded: stand-alone control cabinets, containerised switchgear, instrument shelters and machine-control cabinets in refineries, compressor stations and desalination plants. Because warm air collects at the top of a cabinet, a roof position is a natural point to extract it.

In hot regions the relevant figure is the capacity at A35/A50, which is 600 to 640 W; plan the heat balance accordingly, and consider shade or a canopy for cabinets standing in direct sun.

Site conditions in Oman for the DTT 6201 230V SC

Panel cooling in Oman is sized for the worst case, not the average day. Summer shade temperatures in Muscat, Sohar and the interior regularly pass 45 °C, and a cabinet standing in direct sun gains further heat through its walls. When you size the DTT 6201 230V SC, add the internal losses of drives, power supplies and PLCs to the solar and wall gain, and compare the total with the useful cooling capacity at your real ambient and target cabinet temperature, rather than with a nominal figure stated at milder test conditions.

Coastal sites near Duqm, Salalah or Sur also bring humidity and salt-laden dust. Keep door seals intact, route the condensate drain away from live parts, and plan routine filter and coil cleaning so that the DTT 6201 230V SC keeps its rated performance through the long summer season.

About brand

Pfannenberg is the German maker of thermal management and signalling products for electrical enclosures and industry: filter fans, cooling units, air-to-water heat exchangers, chillers, heaters, sirens and beacons. Otto Pfannenberg, an electrical engineer, founded the company in Hamburg in 1954, and in 1958 he invented the filter fan to stop components in control cabinets from overheating. Pfannenberg is still family-owned and headquartered in Hamburg.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Pfannenberg signalling devices and enclosure climate products for panel builders and plant engineers in Oman and the GCC.
