A round Ø 60 mm smart indicator that replaces dial thermometers

The JUMO miroVIEW (type 701590) is a smart digital indicator with limit value monitoring for process temperature. It reads a two-wire Pt100 or Pt1000 RTD probe through its analog input and shows the value on two 18-segment LCD displays, with a 4-digit white upper line and a 7-digit green lower line. Besides the display it offers min/max value storage, a hold function, a tare function, three limit value monitors, a timer and service and operating hour counters. One relay with a normally open contact rated AC 250 V, 16 A is built in, and a digital input accepts a potential-free contact. The round housing has a 60.5 mm panel cut-out, so it can replace round dial instruments, while the sister type 701591 has an 80 mm front. Setup is possible via the keypad, USB, or an optional Bluetooth app.

Order code for the miroVIEW

The code is 701590 / version – input – output – supply – extra codes. Basic type 701590 is the Ø 60 x 80 mm format and 701591 the Ø 80 x 80 mm format. Version 0 is the standard, while 1, 2 and 3 are customised hardware, software, or both. Input code 01 is one two-wire Pt100 or Pt1000 plus a digital input, output code 25 is the 16 A relay, supply is 02, 05 or 30, and extra code 036 adds Bluetooth. The order example is 701590/0-01-25-02-000. Accessories include the setup program (00777355), a 3 m USB cable A to Micro-B (00616250) and the smartCONNECT Bluetooth app (00770436).

Limit monitoring, installation and uses

Each of the three limit value monitors has two alarm functions that act on any analog value. Switch-on or switch-off delay, pulse function, alarm suppression during start-up or after a parameter change, latching and acknowledgement lock are available. The timer outputs an invertible signal for its running time, and can restart after the lead time or when a tolerance limit is reached. The service counter either counts switching events of a binary signal or measures its on-time and raises a signal that needs acknowledgement, while the operating hours counter logs the running time of the device. A toggle flag cycles a display automatically, for example between min and max values and a message text.

Mount it from the front with the supplied frame or two clips, in a panel from 1 to 10 mm, keeping at least 15 mm horizontally and 30 mm vertically between cut-outs. The display must be vertical when the maximum ambient temperature applies. The unit is IP65 at the front, which suits machine panels in food, HVAC and packaging. Typical jobs are oven, bath and cold-store temperature display with a heater or alarm relay, hold-up timers and hour counting. Choosing a temperature sensor starts with the range and accuracy. A Pt100 RTD is accurate and stable from about -200 to 600 °C and is the usual choice in process plants. A thermocouple (type K or J, for example) covers much higher temperatures and responds faster but is less accurate. The wiring also matters: a 3-wire or 4-wire Pt100 connection cancels the resistance of the cable, while a 2-wire connection adds an error that grows with cable length. That is why a head-mounted transmitter is often fitted close to the sensor.
