Deye SUN-M80G4-EU-Q0 800 W Dual-Module Microinverter, IP67

The Deye SUN-M80G4-EU-Q0 is a module-level microinverter that connects two PV panels to a single-phase grid. It is rated 800 W, has two independent MPP trackers, an IP67 case, built-in Wi-Fi and a 15-year warranty. It suits balconies, small roofs and sites with partial shade, where each panel should be tracked on its own.

Conversion at the panel

A microinverter changes DC to AC right at the panel, so there is no high-voltage DC string on the roof and each module works at its own maximum power point. If one panel is shaded or dirty, only that input loses output. The M80G4 takes two modules, one per tracker, has no fan and is rated 25 dB(A) or less. Deye lists a fast AC discharge under 100 ms, a rapid-shutdown function and complete NS protection with a self-check, using an external relay.

Choosing 600, 800 or 1000 W

The 800 W unit pairs with panels of about 210 to 560 W each. Larger panels should be checked against the full DC window and the 1000 W model. Panels below 210 W fall under the datasheet window, so confirm the module rating before ordering. The 800 W unit allows six microinverters on one AC branch, fewer than the 600 W unit, so count the branches when planning a larger array.

Guidance from the user manual

The manual covers mounting each microinverter on the racking or module frame and linking them with T-connectors, extension cables and a bus AC connector, with a branch junction box at the end. It warns that the wiring colour code differs by region and that wrong cabling can damage the units and is not covered by the warranty. Do not exceed the branch maximum, keep connectors out of direct sun, rain and snow, leave air space under the unit, and never disconnect DC while it is producing power.

Balconies and small roofs in hot regions

Microinverters sit under the panels and share their heat. The datasheet rates operation to 65 degrees C with derating above 45, so compare that with roof temperatures in summer. An IP67 case suits dust and humidity in coastal locations.

Practical notes

The unit is only 40 mm thick and weighs 3 kg, so it hangs behind a panel or on a balcony rail. The 15-year warranty and 25-year design lifetime are Deye’s figures. Because the NS protection uses an external relay, check with the local utility which protection arrangement it requires before connecting. A branch of six 800 W units carries 4.8 kW of rated output, and the branch breaker and cable must be sized for the 3.5 A maximum current of each unit times six, about 21 A.

Selection and installation notes

A microinverter works on one or two modules, so the module power, the open-circuit voltage and the branch circuit loading must match the data sheet. Fix it behind the module with the clearances stated, use the maker trunk cable and connectors, protect each AC branch with the rated breaker and an RCD where the rules require, and register the system with the utility before connection.
