A 150 kW string inverter for 380 to 480 V grids with high-current MPPTs

The Sungrow SG150CX is a multi-MPPT string inverter for 1000 Vdc systems with 150 kW rated power and 165 kVA maximum apparent power. Seven MPPTs carry three strings each at up to 48 A, so high-current modules fit without string combiners, and the AC side accepts 380, 400, 415 or 480 V three-phase grids.

Protection and general data

SG150CX or SG125CX-P2?

Pick the SG150CX when module current or array size pushes beyond the SG125CX-P2: it has 7 MPPTs at 48 A versus 12 MPPTs at 30 A, so it suits large-format modules but offers fewer independent trackers. Confirm the grid voltage (380 to 480 V options change the rated current and voltage range) and the recommended maximum array of 210 kWp. RSD compatibility is optional and, for the SR20D-M device, the datasheet asks you to consult Sungrow before ordering.

Installation and operation notes

The inverter weighs up to 100 kg and is wall-mounted on a bracket; use suitable lifting and a robust frame. AC connection uses OT or DT lugs for 120 to 400 mm2 cables. The air duct self-cleaning function reduces cleaning visits, but follow the user manual for maintenance guidance. Bluetooth and the app commission the unit; RS485 is standard with WLAN and Ethernet as options.

Where the SG150CX is used

Typical sites are large commercial roofs, industrial parks and ground-mount plants in the sub-MW to MW range. Because DEWA appears in the printed grid compliance list, it is relevant to projects in Dubai, but approval for a specific project still has to be confirmed with the utility. The 60 C operating limit and C5 rating are printed values for hot, humid, salt-laden sites.

Installation and selection notes

Design the string layout from the module data so that the voltage and current stay inside the inverter window over the temperature range at the site, and plan mounting with enough clear space for cooling. Check the AC cable size, the protection devices, the communication method and the local grid connection requirements before ordering, and keep the commissioning record for the warranty file.
