Victron SmartShunt IP65 Bluetooth Battery Monitor

Description

A Bluetooth battery monitor with the shunt built in

The Victron SmartShunt IP65 is an all-in-one battery monitor without a display: the VictronConnect app on a phone or tablet is the display. It is water resistant, comes in 300 A, 500 A, 1000 A and 2000 A versions, and reports state of charge, time to go, voltage, current and history. Victron positions it as an alternative to a BMV battery monitor where less wiring and clutter are wanted. It can also be read by a GX device through the VE.Direct port.

Differences from the BMV-712

Victron lists no visual or audible alarm (alarms appear in the app or on a GX device), no programmable relay, a waterproof housing and a shunt attached to the monitor unit. A VE.Direct cable, not included, is required to connect a GX device. The unit therefore suits sealed enclosures, marine and vehicle batteries and remote sites. Compare with the Victron Quattro systems it commonly monitors, and other units in solar power.

Selection notes

Choose the version by the maximum continuous battery current, not the average; the shunt must carry the peak load plus margin. Confirm the system voltage is within 6.5 to 70 V, and plan for a VE.Direct cable and a GX device if remote logging is needed.

About brand

A battery-based backup or off-grid system needs one device that inverts, charges the battery and switches between AC sources. In the Victron Energy program that device is the MultiPlus-II inverter charger. Victron Energy, founded in 1975 and based in Almere, Netherlands, makes inverters, chargers and battery systems.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list the MultiPlus-II 48/5000/70-50 and source Victron inverter chargers for buyers in Oman.

Reading the Victron MultiPlus-II 48/5000/70-50 model name

The name carries the main ratings: a 48 V battery system, 5000 VA inverter output, a 70 A battery charger and a 50 A AC transfer switch. Victron's documentation gives a 230 VAC output and continuous power of 4000 W at 25 °C, falling to 3700 W at 40 °C. The unit supports Victron's PowerControl and PowerAssist functions for use with a limited grid or generator supply.

Ordering Victron Energy equipment: what we need

Send the complete model name, state if you need the standard or the GX version, and give the battery voltage and battery type. Tell us if the unit will run alone, in parallel or in a three-phase group, and the ambient temperature at the site, which matters in the GCC. We check the model against Victron documentation and provide the manufacturer's datasheet on request.
