Victron Inverter RS 48/6000 230V Smart 6000VA Inverter

Description

Compact 48 V inverter with Bluetooth, VE.Can and a display

The Victron Inverter RS 48/6000 Smart is a 48 V DC to 230 V AC, 50 Hz inverter that Victron describes as light weight, efficient and quiet. At 11 kg it is a high-power inverter for its size, with high-frequency technology, 96.5 % maximum efficiency at 1 kW load and 20 W zero-load power. A display shows battery and inverter parameters, and the same data is available over Bluetooth in the VictronConnect app, which is also used for setup and settings.

The RS Smart has a VE.Can port for connection to a GX device (system monitoring, energy meter, data logging and remote firmware update) and a VE.Direct port for the GlobalLink 520 remote monitoring. Two analogue and digital I/O ports, a programmable relay, a temperature sensor and a voltage sense connection are provided, and the remote input can be configured to accept the Victron smallBMS.

Notes on the RS Smart datasheet figures

Victron gives the continuous output as a range that rises with battery voltage. Because of that, the system design should check the actual battery voltage under load, not just the nominal 48 V. Peak ratings of 9 kW for three seconds and 7 kW for four minutes are useful for motor starting but should not be used as a continuous rating.

The RS Smart is an inverter. Its datasheet charger section applies to AC-coupled solar charging, where an external PV inverter is connected on a circuit at the AC output, up to 5000 W. Charging a battery from a grid or generator is not described for this model; for that, Victron makes charger-inverters such as the MultiPlus-II range. The RS family also includes models with built-in solar charge controllers, which are separate products. The datasheet adds that connection to the Victron VM-3P75CT energy meter is made over VE.Can.

Selection and installation

Specify the battery type and capacity, the DC cable size and fuse, the AC load and its starting current, the ambient temperature and the monitoring route, such as a Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX through VE.Can. The 12-unit parallel and 3-phase rules in the datasheet apply to the installation design. Check the allowable derating at high enclosure temperature, since continuous output at 65 °C is 3000 W.

About brand

A battery-based backup or off-grid system needs one device that inverts, charges the battery and switches between AC sources. In the Victron Energy program that device is the MultiPlus-II inverter charger. Victron Energy, founded in 1975 and based in Almere, Netherlands, makes inverters, chargers and battery systems.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list the MultiPlus-II 48/5000/70-50 and source Victron inverter chargers for buyers in Oman.

Reading the Victron MultiPlus-II 48/5000/70-50 model name

The name carries the main ratings: a 48 V battery system, 5000 VA inverter output, a 70 A battery charger and a 50 A AC transfer switch. Victron's documentation gives a 230 VAC output and continuous power of 4000 W at 25 °C, falling to 3700 W at 40 °C. The unit supports Victron's PowerControl and PowerAssist functions for use with a limited grid or generator supply.

Ordering Victron Energy equipment: what we need

Send the complete model name, state if you need the standard or the GX version, and give the battery voltage and battery type. Tell us if the unit will run alone, in parallel or in a three-phase group, and the ambient temperature at the site, which matters in the GCC. We check the model against Victron documentation and provide the manufacturer's datasheet on request.
