Victron SmartSolar MPPT RS 450/200 Solar Charge Controller

Description

The Victron Energy SmartSolar MPPT RS 450/200 is a galvanically isolated solar charge controller for 48 V battery systems with up to 450 V PV input and 200 A output. At 11.5 kW maximum charge power it targets large off-grid and hybrid systems, such as telecom sites, remote camps and pumping stations, where a high-voltage PV string layout reduces cable cost and losses.

Isolated high-voltage MPPT for 48 V battery banks

Four independent MPPT trackers each accept up to 16 A operational input current and 4,000 W, so strings facing different roof or ground orientations can be optimised separately. The PV operating range is 65 to 450 V with a 120 V start-up voltage. Full galvanic isolation separates the PV input from the battery side, and the controller continuously monitors PV isolation resistance (100 kΩ fail level) and reports a fault to a connected GX device while continuing to charge.

Bluetooth and a built-in display allow set-up with the VictronConnect app, including a 30-day history for each tracker. A VE.Can port and a VE.Direct port connect the unit to a GX device for monitoring through VRM, and up to 25 units can be synchronised in parallel over VE.Can. The remote input accepts a battery management system with an allow-to-charge signal, and a programmable relay can signal alarms, DC undervoltage or generator start and stop.

Choosing between the 450/100 and 450/200

The datasheet also covers the smaller RS 450/100 (100 A, 5.8 kW, two trackers, 7.9 kg, 440 x 313 x 126 mm). Choose the 450/200 when the battery bank and PV array can use the full 11.5 kW from one unit, otherwise two 450/100 controllers give more modular redundancy. Before ordering, confirm the string open-circuit voltage at the coldest site temperature against the 450 V limit and the 8 x float voltage rule, the battery chemistry and any BMS charge-permission signal. The related Victron MultiPlus-II inverter charger is often paired with this controller, and more solar products are listed under Solar Power.

About brand

A battery-based backup or off-grid system needs one device that inverts, charges the battery and switches between AC sources. In the Victron Energy program that device is the MultiPlus-II inverter charger. Victron Energy, founded in 1975 and based in Almere, Netherlands, makes inverters, chargers and battery systems.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list the MultiPlus-II 48/5000/70-50 and source Victron inverter chargers for buyers in Oman.

Reading the Victron MultiPlus-II 48/5000/70-50 model name

The name carries the main ratings: a 48 V battery system, 5000 VA inverter output, a 70 A battery charger and a 50 A AC transfer switch. Victron's documentation gives a 230 VAC output and continuous power of 4000 W at 25 °C, falling to 3700 W at 40 °C. The unit supports Victron's PowerControl and PowerAssist functions for use with a limited grid or generator supply.

Ordering Victron Energy equipment: what we need

Send the complete model name, state if you need the standard or the GX version, and give the battery voltage and battery type. Tell us if the unit will run alone, in parallel or in a three-phase group, and the ambient temperature at the site, which matters in the GCC. We check the model against Victron documentation and provide the manufacturer's datasheet on request.
