Deye SUN-16K-SG01LP1-EU-AM3-P 16 kW Single-Phase Hybrid Inverter

Description

The Deye SUN-16K-SG01LP1-EU-AM3-P is a 16 kW single-phase hybrid inverter for 48 V class batteries. Three MPP trackers take up to 32 kW of PV, two battery inputs share a 290 A charge and discharge limit, and the AC side is rated 16000 W at 230 V. Think of large villas, farms, camps and small commercial buildings that need solar, storage and backup from one wall unit.

Why a 16 kW single-phase unit

Single-phase supplies often feed heavy loads, such as several split air conditioners, pumps and a workshop at once. A 16 kW hybrid inverter lets that load run from solar by day and from the battery after sunset. Because the battery side is isolated while the solar side is transformerless, the design keeps efficiency high without giving up galvanic separation of the battery bank. Up to 16 units may be paralleled when one inverter is not enough.

Features Deye lists

  • Colour touch LCD on an IP65 body.
  • AC coupling lets an existing PV inverter feed the system.
  • Up to 16 units in parallel, on-grid or off-grid, with several battery banks.
  • Six programmable charge and discharge periods.
  • Energy from a diesel generator can be stored.

Technical specification

The 2026 datasheet covers four ratings. The first table compares them; the second lists the values the four share.

Choosing between 12, 14, 16 and 18 kW

The four ratings differ mainly in battery current and AC current. The 16K sits in the middle of the range: 290 A on the battery side and 80 A maximum on the AC side, which sets the cable and breaker you quote. The 18K is taller and heavier, so confirm wall space before choosing it.

Wiring points from the user manual

Deye’s manual gives 0 AWG (50 mm2) battery cable for the 16 kW model at up to 12.5 Nm, 2 AWG (25 mm2) cable for the grid and backup-load terminals at up to 18.6 Nm, and 12 AWG (2.5 mm2) for PV. A separate DC over-current device is needed between battery and inverter and a DC breaker between inverter and array. Leave about 50 cm clear at the sides, above and below and 100 cm in front, avoid humidity above 95% and direct cold air, and do not rest the unit on bare hard ground. The zero-export modes use a CT clamped on the grid line and wired to the CT-L2 port.

Planning for Gulf summers

A 16 kW unit rejects a lot of heat, and output derates above 45 degrees C. Choose a shaded, ventilated wall and keep the fan intakes clear of dust.

Quick sizing arithmetic

Two derived figures help when you quote. First, 32 kW of PV access power against 16 kW of AC gives a ratio of 2, so the array can be generous without the inverter clipping for long. Second, 290 A at a nominal 48 V is roughly 14 kW of battery power, which is slightly below the AC rating; a bank for long backup should therefore be sized for the battery current as well as for its kilowatt-hours. At 54.1 kg the unit needs a solid wall.

Selection and installation notes

A hybrid inverter is selected from the PV array voltage and power, the battery voltage and chemistry, the backup load and the grid connection. Check that the string open-circuit voltage at the lowest site temperature stays below the input limit, that the battery is on the maker approved list with the right communication cable, and that the backup loads fit the rated output. Install in a shaded, ventilated place with the clearances on the data sheet, use DC isolators and surge protection, and have the grid settings approved by the local utility before connection.

Information needed for a quotation

Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.

Documents and supply information

The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.
