Hanna HI83414 Benchtop Turbidity and Chlorine Meter

Description

Turbidity and chlorine on one benchtop instrument

The HI83414 is a high-accuracy combined benchtop meter that joins turbidity and colorimetric measurements to cover the two parameters most watched in drinking water: turbidity and free or total chlorine. Hanna states that it meets and exceeds USEPA and Standard Methods requirements for both turbidity and colorimetric measurement.

Turbidity runs up to 4000 NTU with the ratiometric method and up to 40.0 NTU with the non-ratio method, with EBC and Nephelos units as alternatives and an EPA reporting mode. Chlorine is measured from 0.00 to 5.00 mg/L as free or total chlorine with a 525 nm interference filter that gives precise, repeatable results.

Optics, calibration and quality assurance

A state-of-the-art optical system keeps results stable, limits stray light and colour interference and compensates for variations in lamp intensity, so frequent recalibration is avoided. Round 25 mm cuvettes of special optical glass give repeatable measurements. Turbidity can be calibrated at two, three, four or five points using the supplied standards, and the points can be edited when user-prepared standards are used.

The CAL Check function validates chlorine performance at any time with ready-made NIST-traceable standards, and a one-point calibration can use the same standard. Complete GLP functions keep calibration conditions traceable. A graphic LCD, contextual help in several languages and a tutorial mode guide the operator, and 200 measurements can be logged and downloaded through USB.

Where it fits, and the standard kit

The HI83414 is a laboratory instrument for water-treatment works, distribution laboratories and municipal or industrial compliance testing, where one bench instrument must report turbidity and chlorine from the same sample desk. For field turbidity use, the HI98703 portable turbidimeter is the related Hanna model; for portable chlorine only, the HI97711.

Confirm the mains supply, the reporting unit your regulator expects, whether ratio mode is permitted by your method, and the reagent consumption. Per the manual, each HI83414 is supplied with five sample cuvettes and caps, calibration cuvettes (HI83414-11), silicone oil, a wiping cloth, scissors, a power cord, the instruction manual and the instrument quality certificate.

About brand

Hanna Instruments is a maker of analytical instruments for water and liquid testing, founded in 1978 in the Padua area of Italy by Oscar and Anna Nardo. Its early breakthrough was the pHep, an affordable pocket-sized pH tester. The company is now led by the founders' children, Martino and Pamela Nardo, with its headquarters in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, and offers more than 3,000 products.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Hanna instruments for water, wastewater and laboratory users in Oman and the GCC.
