Metrel MI 2893 Power Master XT Class A Power Quality Analyser

Description

Class A power quality analysis with transient capture at 1 MS/s

The Metrel MI 2893 Power Master XT extends the Power Master line with high-speed transient capture. Metrel describes it as a hand-held three-phase power quality analyser that shows harmonics, phasors, waveforms and transients, with a sampling frequency of 1 MSamples per second, on a large colour display. It complies with IEC 61000-4-30 Class A and is used for both long-term recording and for finding power quality faults in three-phase and single-phase systems.

The transient recorder samples all eight channels simultaneously at 1 MS/s and triggers on envelope and level at the same time. Its setup is simplified with a Set and go option: predefined low and high trigger levels for current and voltage. The transient recorder runs while the general recorder and the waveform recorder are working, so a single connection captures slow trends, events and fast spikes together. The general recorder adds average ON values, 200 ms U/I/f data, rapid voltage change (RVC), inrush, transients and two selectable signalling frequencies to the usual minimum, maximum and average values.

Other functions match the Class A family: harmonics and interharmonics up to the 50th, flicker, unbalance, EN 50160 analysis, IEEE 1459 power measurement, VFD and 400 Hz support, temperature measurement and up to seven adjustable alarms.

When the XT is the better choice

The Class A functions of the standard Power Master are all present, so the XT matters when the problem is a fast disturbance: switching transients from capacitor banks, breaker operations, drive commutation or lightning-induced surges that are shorter than a mains cycle. For recurring faults, the combination of event capture, waveform recording and 1 MS/s transient recording lets the engineer see what happened before and after the trigger.

Metrel lists high-speed transient capturing, energy consumption optimisation, power quality assessment on low and medium voltage systems, power factor correction checks, long-term analysis, predictive maintenance and verifying the capacity of an electrical system before loads are added. Sets are Standard (without flexible clamps), Euro (flexible clamps included) and Advanced (A 1502 flexible clamps and accessories); a wide-range power supply, 4G / Wi-Fi router, GPS receiver, an EV monitoring cable and waterproof cases are optional.

What to confirm before ordering

Identify the transient levels you expect, the measuring points and whether the supply is three-phase or single-phase, since the voltage ranges differ between the two connection types. Confirm the clamp types for the conductors, GPS or remote-access needs, and the memory card size. The leaflet notes that specifications may change without notice.

About brand

Metrel is a Slovenian manufacturer of electrical installation testers and power quality instruments, based in Horjul near Ljubljana. It was set up in 1957 as a factory making electrical measuring instruments and components for the domestic market and grew into an exporter whose testers are sold through distributors in more than 70 countries. Metrel d.o.o. designs, builds and calibrates its instruments in Slovenia.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Metrel testers for electrical contractors, utilities and maintenance teams in Oman and the GCC.

Ordering Metrel instruments: what we need

Give the complete model name and the set you want, because Metrel sells most instruments as standard, Euro or advanced sets with different leads, clamps and software licences. List accessories separately and state the standard your testing must follow. If you are unsure of the model, describe the installation, test voltage and measurements required.

Facts checked against Metrel's own company pages (metrel.si) and trade directories, October 2026.
