Metrel MI 3152 EurotestXC Multifunctional Installation Tester

Description

A touch-screen installation tester built around automatic test sequences

The Metrel MI 3152 EurotestXC is a multifunctional instrument for the complete safety testing of low-voltage electrical installations according to IEC/EN 61557. Metrel describes it as an instrument of its newer generation: the familiar installation tests and AUTO SEQUENCE testing of TN, TT and IT earthing systems are run from a large colour touch screen rather than from a rotary switch and a stack of menus.

A technician can work in two ways. Single tests cover on-line voltage monitoring, phase sequence, varistor testing, earth resistance, illuminance and TRMS current measurement, RCD tests, line and loop impedance and specific earth resistance, together with first fault leakage current (ISFL) and tests of insulation monitoring devices (IMD). Predefined AUTO SEQUENCEs chain the measurements that a given earthing system needs, so that the same steps are performed in the same order on every circuit: Auto TT measures U, Zln, Zs and Uc; Auto TN/RCD measures U, Zln, Zs and Rpe; Auto TN measures U, Zln, Zlpe and Rpe; and Auto IT measures U, Zln, Isc, Isfl and IMD.

Built-in fuse tables evaluate line and loop impedance results automatically and all three voltages are monitored in real time. Results move to a PC with the Metrel ES Manager software, or to Android devices through the optional aMESM app, over the built-in Bluetooth connection.

Where it is used and how to choose the set

Metrel lists initial and periodic testing of domestic installations, maintenance, lightning installations, medical installations, construction sites and electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) testing among the typical applications.

The instrument is sold as a standard set (MI 3152 ST) or a Euro set (MI 3152 EU). The standard set contains the instrument, a plug commander, three-wire test lead, power adapter with six NiMH AA batteries, probes, crocodile clips, a 20 m earth set, cables, a soft bag and neck belt, a Metrel ES Manager BASIC licence and a short manual. The Euro set adds the A 1018 low-range leakage clamp, the A 1019 clamp and a Metrel ES Manager PRO licence.

Optional accessories listed by Metrel include the Ro-adapter A 1199, the receiver R10K A 1191, three-phase adapters A 1110 and A 1111, luxmeter sensors A 1172 and A 1173, a barcode scanner A 1105 and a 50 m earth test set S 2027.

What to confirm before ordering

State whether the standard set, the Euro set or the bare instrument is required, and list the options you need: current clamps for leakage or load current, the Ro-adapter for soil resistivity, luxmeter sensors, three-phase adapters, scanner, longer earth sets. Confirm the installation types and the national wiring rules you test to, since the predefined AUTO SEQUENCEs and fuse tables are profile dependent, and say whether the results must go to Metrel ES Manager or to an Android device. Metrel reserves the right to change specifications without notice, so check the current leaflet at order time.

Documents and quotation

The Metrel leaflet for this model is attached to the page as a datasheet. Compare the insulation range with other portable testers in the portable test and measurement category, including the Megger MIT1025/2 10 kV insulation resistance tester for higher test voltages. Send the model, set, accessories and quantity with your request for quotation and Seven Star LLC will quote against that specification.

Ordering Metrel instruments: what we need

Give the complete model name and the set you want, because Metrel sells most instruments as standard, Euro or advanced sets with different leads, clamps and software licences. List the accessories separately (longer leads, current clamps, adapters), and state the standard your testing must follow. If you are unsure of the model, describe the installation, the test voltage and the measurements required.
