Metrel MI 2885 Master Q4 Class S Power Quality Analyser

Description

A Class S troubleshooting analyser with automatic event recording

The Metrel MI 2885 Master Q4 is a Class S power quality analyser that Metrel calls an ideal troubleshooting tool. Its recorders save the important data and waveforms of voltage events such as dips and swells automatically, and up to seven optional triggers can capture waveforms of chosen quantities. A large colour display shows harmonics, phasors and waveform anomalies as soon as the instrument is connected, and Quick Set buttons give faster access to the data overview.

The analyser is built for long-term recording as well as for troubleshooting power quality problems in three-phase and single-phase distribution systems. It has four voltage channels (0 to 1000 V RMS, CAT III / 1000 V) and four current channels with automatic clamp recognition and range selection, measures to IEC/EN 61000-4-30 Class S (0.1 %), and analyses against EN 50160 with signalling and interharmonics. Its function list also includes photovoltaic inverter efficiency measurement, which is not listed on the Class A siblings, together with harmonics to the 50th, flicker, unbalance, VFD and 400 Hz support and temperature measurement.

Records are stored on microSD (8 GB supplied, up to 32 GB supported) and are opened with the PowerView3 software for analysis and report creation.

Choosing between Class S and Class A

Class S is the choice for surveys, complaint investigations and monitoring where the numbers are used for diagnosis and comparison. If a contract or regulator demands Class A compliance, the Power Master models are the instruments to look at instead. This difference decides the order more often than any feature does, so it should be settled first.

Metrel lists energy consumption optimisation, power quality assessment on low and medium voltage systems, checking power correction equipment, long-term analysis, predictive maintenance and checking system capacity before adding loads. Three sets exist: Standard (ST, without flexible clamps), Euro (EU, with A 1227 flexible clamps) and Advanced (AD, with A 1502 flexible clamps, memory card and reader, USB and Ethernet cables, power adapter and a soft carrying bag). Options include iron and AC/DC clamps, a GPS receiver, 4G / Wi-Fi router, waterproof case and a temperature probe.

What to confirm before ordering

Confirm that Class S meets the specification or contract wording, then list the conductor sizes and current ranges so the right clamp type can be selected. Decide on the set and on GPS synchronisation or remote communication. Metrel may change specifications without notice, so check the leaflet at order time.

About brand

Metrel is a Slovenian manufacturer of electrical installation testers and power quality instruments, based in Horjul near Ljubljana. It was set up in 1957 as a factory making electrical measuring instruments and components for the domestic market and grew into an exporter whose testers are sold through distributors in more than 70 countries. Metrel d.o.o. designs, builds and calibrates its instruments in Slovenia.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Metrel testers for electrical contractors, utilities and maintenance teams in Oman and the GCC.

Ordering Metrel instruments: what we need

Give the complete model name and the set you want, because Metrel sells most instruments as standard, Euro or advanced sets with different leads, clamps and software licences. List accessories separately and state the standard your testing must follow. If you are unsure of the model, describe the installation, test voltage and measurements required.

Facts checked against Metrel's own company pages (metrel.si) and trade directories, October 2026.
