Description
Single-phase plasma cutter with grid cutting and gouging
The Telwin Technology Plasma 60 XT (code 816148) is a compressed-air inverter plasma cutter for 230 V single-phase supply. It cuts steel, stainless steel, galvanised steel, aluminium, copper, brass and other conductive materials up to 20 mm thick. As the top model of the Technology Plasma XT range, it adds functions that the smaller models do not have: a grid-cutting mode that keeps the arc alive on expanded metal, mesh and perforated sheet, and a gouging mode for removing weld metal and shaping parts.
The pilot arc is started by contact, so there is no high-frequency interference. Telwin designed the XT range for heavy use with a metal handle, anti-shock bumpers and a centralised torch connection. Warning LEDs indicate torch voltage and when consumables need changing, the torch is cooled automatically after cutting, and the air pressure is displayed on the panel.

Using a compact plasma cutter well
A 20 mm maximum rating means a quality cut is normally achieved on thinner material, so for the cleanest edges this class of machine is used on material well below its maximum rating, such as sheet, profiles and lighter plate. Air quality is the main factor in consumable life: water and oil in the line shorten the life of the electrode and nozzle, which is why Telwin offers the MMS-10 filter. On site, a generator for this machine should be sized for the 5.5 kW maximum input with margin. Keep the torch tip square to the work and let the arc exit fully before moving off the edge.
Compared with oxy-fuel cutting, air plasma needs no gas cylinders, cuts stainless steel and aluminium as well as carbon steel, and leaves a narrow heat-affected zone on thin material. It is also faster than abrasive discs on sheet and tube, with less noise and no disc dust, which suits maintenance crews, HVAC and steel-door fabricators, and agricultural repair shops.

About brand
Telwin is an Italian manufacturer of welding equipment, plasma cutting systems and battery chargers and starters, operating since 1963. The family-run company has its headquarters and industrial centre in Villaverla, in the province of Vicenza. Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat and lists the Telwin Supermig 500i XD multi-process inverter.
