Bentone BG 400 Single-Stage Gas Burner 61-320 kW

Description

Overview

The Bentone BG 400 is a single-stage forced-draught gas burner from the intermediate range of Bentone, the Swedish burner maker based in Ljungby. Bentone describes these mid-range burners as well designed and robust units for industrial processes and for heating medium-sized commercial buildings, and gives the BG 400 family a capacity of 56 to 350 kW. The single-stage version on this page, with a Siemens LME11 burner control and a DUNGS MultiBloc MB-DLE 407 or 412 gas valve, is rated in its installation manual at 61 to 320 kW on natural gas and 61 to 340 kW on LPG.

Seven Star LLC supplies the Bentone BG 400 and its gas train parts to boiler owners, HVAC contractors and maintenance teams in the Sultanate of Oman and across the GCC, with engineering support in Muscat. Many burners of this size in the region are on hot water boilers in hotels, hospitals and laundries, where a like-for-like replacement or a correct spare part keeps the plant running without redesign of the boiler front.

Operating Principle

As a single-stage burner, the Bentone BG 400 runs either off or at one fixed firing rate. On a call for heat the LME11 control first checks that the air pressure switch shows no fan pressure, then starts the motor and confirms sufficient fan pressure. The manual gives a prepurge time of 20 seconds, a pre-ignition time of 2 seconds and a post-ignition time of 2.5 seconds. The ignition transformer creates a spark, the gas valve opens and the flame is proven by an ionisation electrode; if no flame is detected within the safety time of less than 3 seconds, the control locks out and a red lamp is lit until the reset button is pressed. The reaction time on flame failure during operation is below 1 second.

Gas flow and start load on the Bentone BG 400 are set on the MultiBloc. The manual describes the DLE 405 to 412 valve as having a maximum inlet pressure of 360 mbar, an adjustable governor pressure of 4 to 50 mbar for the S50 version and slow-opening valves with adjustable start load and maximum flow. Combustion air is set with the air damper and the nozzle assembly position, and the air pressure switch is adjusted so that it stops the burner if air flow becomes too low. A gas pressure switch on the MultiBloc blocks starting when the supply pressure is too low.

Engineering Design of the Bentone BG 400

The Bentone BG 400 is built around a fan housing with motor and fan wheel, an air intake with damper, a connecting pipe and a flame tube carrying the nozzle assembly, brake plate, ignition electrode and ionisation electrode. Two flame tube lengths are listed: 172 mm, with dimension A of 155 mm, and 272 mm, with dimension A of 255 mm, both with a flame tube diameter B of 140 mm. For connection to the boiler the manual gives a hole circle of 175 to 240 mm and a recommended opening of 145 mm, or 115 mm when the flame tube is installed from inside the boiler. The burner model code reflects this, for example Bentone BG 400 L172 LME11 407 for the short flame tube, LME11 control and MB-DLE 407 valve.

Electrically the Bentone BG 400 runs on 230 V single-phase, 50 Hz, with a maximum fuse rating of 6.3 A and IP20 protection; the maximum operating current is shown on the data plate. Components on the wiring diagram include the burner control, ionisation electrode, operating fuse, motor, air and gas pressure switches, ignition transformer and solenoid valve. The NOx class is given as 2 on G20 and G25 and 3 on G30 and G31, and the sound power is 85 dBA measured according to EN 15036-1.

Key Features

The Bentone BG 400 combines these documented features for commercial boilers and process heat:

  • A firing range of 61 to 320 kW on natural gas and 61 to 340 kW on LPG covers medium-sized boiler and heater duties.
  • Approval to EN 676 is stated by Bentone, and versions according to EN 746-2 Annex J/K are available for ovens, kilns and steam boilers.
  • The fuel list covers natural gas groups H, E, L and LL as well as LPG, butane and propane.
  • A Siemens LME11 burner control handles the start sequence, flame supervision and lockout with a coloured LED status signal.
  • The DUNGS MB-DLE gas valve integrates filter, regulator and two solenoid valves with slow-opening start.
  • Two flame tube lengths, 172 mm and 272 mm, help match the burner to different boiler fronts.
  • The manual recommends annual service, or every 3,000 operating hours, covering filter, electrodes, brake plate, motor and fan wheel.
  • Safety components such as the burner control, pressure switches and gas valve have a recommended replacement interval of 10 years or 250,000 starts.

Industrial Applications

The Bentone BG 400 is used on hot water and low-pressure steam boilers, air heaters and industrial ovens where a fixed firing rate is acceptable. Typical buildings include hotels, hospitals, schools, laundries and commercial kitchens, while process users include bakeries, food plants and drying lines. Because the burner can be supplied for LPG as well as natural gas, it also suits sites in the region that rely on bulk LPG tanks rather than a pipeline network.

In Oman, Seven Star LLC supports Bentone BG 400 users in Muscat, Sohar, Sur and Salalah with complete burners and the gas train items that most often need replacement, such as the Dungs MB-DLE 405-412 B01 GasMultiBloc Combined Regulator and Safety Valves, the Dungs GW A6 Compact Pressure Switch for Gas and Air and the DUNGS VPS 504 219881.

About brand
Bentone has made burners in Ljungby, Sweden, since 1954, and its program is divided simply into oil burners, gas burners and multi-fuel burners, with biogas burners as a separate group. Seven Star LLC lists the Bentone BG 400 single-stage gas burner, 61 to 320 kW, and supplies Bentone burners and burner parts to boiler and process heat users in Oman on inquiry.

Bentone gas burners and the BG 400

The BG 400 in our listing is a forced-draught gas burner in single-stage execution. Bentone states that its gas burners are approved under the Gas Appliance Regulation, and that its burners can handle modern biofuels. The firing range that applies to a particular burner depends on the gas type and the version, and it is printed on the data plate and in the manual for that article number.

Ordering Bentone burners and parts: what we need

Send the model, article number and serial number from the data plate, the gas type and supply pressure, the required output in kW, the boiler make and combustion chamber resistance, and the control voltage. For parts, name the component and add a photo of its label. Gas supply pressure differs between GCC sites and must be stated.
