JUMO TYA 203 Three-Phase Thyristor Power Controller

Description

Three-phase thyristor controller for heating and transformer loads

The JUMO TYA 203 (type 709063) is a three-phase thyristor power controller that switches resistive and resistive/inductive (transformer) loads through a three-wire circuit. The load can be wired in star with or without neutral, in delta, or as an open delta with six conductors. A microprocessor controller shows all parameters on a backlit LCD with an info line, and four front keys operate it.

The data sheet names industrial furnace construction and plastics processing as typical uses. The device runs in phase-angle or burst-firing mode, and in burst firing the first half-wave can be cut so that transformers can also be driven. Every unit is fitted with a semiconductor fuse. Load currents are 20, 32, 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 A, and the 20 A unit can be clipped to a 35 mm rail or fitted to a plate while larger units are wall-mounted.

Control features

Soft start limits inrush, current limiting protects the load and a base load can be preset. Load monitoring by Teach-In detects partial load failure or a shorted load, and rotating-field detection is built in. For molybdenum disilicide heating elements there is resistance monitoring and limitation.

Dual energy management optimises network load when several controllers share a supply, and close side-by-side mounting is permitted for compact cabinets.

Ordering and cabinet design

Choose the load current from the heater power and mains voltage, then the control mode, interface and options. As a derived example, a 30 kW furnace on 400 V draws about 43 A per phase, which points to the 50 A rating once cabinet temperature and margin are checked.

The 250 A unit needs the fan, so plan air flow and filters. The device must be earthed according to the rules of the local supplier, and the data sheet reminds that the cooling body can reach 110 C. Confirm the full type code and the approval of the chosen rating before ordering.

Fuse coordination, the mains frequency, the heater type and whether a transformer is switched all influence the choice between phase angle and burst firing, so state them in your request.

Documents and quotation

Open the attached JUMO TYA 203 data sheet 709063 (EN) for the complete data and dimension drawings. Before you place an order, confirm the load current, mains voltage and interface with the system designer, then submit your request with the exact code; our team prepares the quotation. About brand

Temperature measurement is the origin of JUMO, founded in 1948 in Fulda, Germany, as a maker of glass thermometers. Today the catalog covers sensors and transmitters for temperature, pressure, level and liquid analysis, plus controllers and recorders. Seven Star LLC lists JUMO RTD probes, pressure and differential pressure transmitters, pH, conductivity, turbidity and dissolved oxygen instruments, and sources them for plants in Oman.

JUMO product families listed

JUMO uses family names that recur across the catalog:

  • dTRANS: transmitters, including dTRANS T01 and T100 for temperature, dTRANS p02 DELTA for differential pressure, and dTRANS pH 02 and CR 02 for liquid analysis
  • Wtrans: wireless probes and transmitters, such as Wtrans T for RTD temperature and Wtrans p for pressure
  • digiLine and ecoLine: digital and optical analysis sensors, for example the digiLine O-DO S10 dissolved oxygen sensor and the ecoLine NTU turbidity sensor
  • NESOS: float-based level transmitters and switches
  • RTD temperature probes: screw-in types such as 902030 and mineral-insulated designs

Where JUMO sensors are used

JUMO sensors and transmitters are typical of food and beverage lines, water and wastewater treatment, pharmaceutical utilities, heating and cooling systems, and packaged machinery supplied to the GCC by European builders. Many requests are for a like-for-like replacement of a probe fitted by the machine maker, where length, thread and connector have to match exactly.

Ordering JUMO parts: what we need

JUMO identifies each product group by a six-digit type number, such as 902030, followed by an order code that fixes the options. The label of the delivered item normally carries a part number as well. Send whichever you have, ideally both, or a photo of the label. For JUMO temperature probes add insertion length, diameter, process connection, sensor type and wiring. For JUMO pressure sensors state range, output, process connection and electrical connector. For analysis sensors name the transmitter they connect to and the cable length.
