A thermal glove that is also a food-contact glove
Unusually for a heat glove, the sheet prints a full food-contact statement, which matters for kitchens, bakeries and food production. The glove is white so contamination is easy to see. Dexterity is rated 1/5, the lowest, so it is an oven-handling glove and not for precision work.
EN 407 X2XXXX means only contact heat was tested, with level 2 (250 C), and there is no flame or splash rating. EN 388 4443D has a strong abrasion and tear rating and cut level D, which is high for a thermal glove. Order sizes 7, 9 or 10 and tell us the pack (1 pair per bag or 6 pairs per carton).
Wet and hot use
The fluid-proof construction lets the glove be used with wet loads such as steam ovens and autoclaves. From about 150 C the material may stiffen and change colour, but the sheet states that thermal performance is not affected.
Do not use it with hot oil above the stated temperature. Keep it clean, since grease contamination on a white food glove is a hygiene fault, and replace it when the surface is damaged.
The sheet adds that the glove complies with Regulation (EC) 1935/2004 on food-contact materials in addition to the national texts listed above, and gives EU type certificate 0075/014/162/04/19/1095. Only three sizes are printed, 7, 9 and 10, so check availability of size 8 before planning a crew order.
Kitchens, food production and autoclaves
Mapa lists catering services (local authorities) and the food industry. Tasks are removing hot dishes from dry or wet ovens, removing items from autoclaves and steam ovens, pre-cooking, removing dishes from warming ovens and removing trays from ovens. Commercial kitchens in hotels, camps and hospitals run the same type of equipment (general information).
Selection and care notes
The glove is intended for ovens, steam and hot, wet kitchen duties, and the colour coding helps with hygiene control. Do not use it above the stated temperature or for prolonged contact with hot surfaces. Wash according to the label, keep it dry inside and replace it when the lining or outer coating shows damage.
