Brand:

Moldex 2200N95 Disposable N95 Particulate Respirator

Description

A NIOSH N95 disposable respirator that holds its shape in heat

The Moldex 2200N95 is a two-strap disposable respirator from the original Moldex N95 series. Its Dura-Mesh shell is meant to resist collapsing in hot, humid conditions and keep its shape, and it protects the filter media on both sides so the respirator stays cleaner looking for longer. The nose bridge is moulded with a soft foam nose cushion, so there is no metal noseband to adjust, and the straps are attached so that they do not break at the seal.

Moldex lists dust-type uses such as grinding, torch cutting, sanding, metal machining, construction, cement and welding, brazing and soldering for the N95 respirator. As an N95 it filters particulates only, so it gives no protection against gases or vapours, including the gases that come with some welding fume.

Selecting the size and checking suitability

Moldex offers three sizes in the 2200 family: 2200N95 for medium and large faces, 2201N95 for small faces and 2207N95 with a low-profile nose bridge. A respirator only protects when it seals, so fit testing under the user’s respiratory protection programme is needed before issue. Moldex warns that the user must be trained by the employer, that the product must not be used in atmospheres with less than 19.5 percent oxygen or that are immediately dangerous to life or health, and that N-series filters are not for oil mists.

The datasheet states that the product was not sold with warnings for healthcare use. For particulate protection beyond N95, or for gases and vapours, a reusable respirator with cartridges is required, such as the Moldex 7000 Series half mask.

Documents and quotation

The attached Moldex data sheet includes the NIOSH approval table, the cautions and limitations and the ordering codes. This is a NIOSH 42 CFR 84 product; confirm that this approval satisfies your site or client standard before ordering, as some projects specify EN 149 FFP ratings instead. For a quotation give the product code, size, quantity and delivery date. See respiratory protection and the published 3M 8210 N95.

Moldex products listed here

The Moldex pages on this site cover the Mellows foam earplug, the MX-6 earmuff, the 2200 N95 disposable respirator and the 7000 Series half mask and 9000 Series full-face respirators. Each page carries the data from the Moldex datasheet, including approvals as printed.

Where Moldex protection is used

Fabrication, grinding and welding shops, construction, maintenance and plant work, where noise and airborne dust or fume call for personal protective equipment backed by a written hearing or respiratory protection programme.

Ordering Moldex products: what we need

Frequently Asked Questions

What does N95 mean?
Per the datasheet, an N95 filter has a 95% filter efficiency level against particulate aerosols free of oil; time use restrictions may apply.
What sizes does the 2200 family come in?
2200N95 medium/large, 2201N95 small and 2207N95 low-profile nose bridge, each 20 per box and 12 boxes per case.
Does the 2200N95 have an exhalation valve?
No. The datasheet lists valve type none for the 2200N95, 2201N95 and 2207N95.
Do the straps contain latex?
Yes. Moldex lists latex as the strap material on the datasheet and product page.
Does it protect against gases or vapours?
No. It is a particulate respirator only; gases and vapours need a respirator with suitable cartridges.
