Petzl STRATO VENT Lightweight Ventilated Helmet

Description

A lightweight ventilated helmet with a two-part foam liner

The Petzl STRATO VENT (reference A020BA00 and colour variants) is a ventilated work-at-height helmet whose main selling point is weight: the liner is made in two parts, EPP (expanded polypropylene) and EPS (expanded polystyrene), which brings the helmet to 415 g. Shock absorption comes from deformation of the liner. As on the other Petzl helmets, the CENTERFIT headband adjusts with two side wheels, the FLIP&FIT system keeps the headband in a low position, and the DUAL chinstrap has separate settings for work at height and for work on the ground.

The STRATO VENT takes the same modular accessories: an eye shield with EASYCLIP attachment, a Petzl headlamp on mounts or an elastic headband, a helmet protector against soiling and paint splash, a nape protector, a nametag holder, a changeable chinstrap and foam, and hearing protection.

The comparison shows the practical difference: the STRATO VENT lists EN 12492 and ANSI Z89.1, but not EN 397, among its printed standards. If the site rules require an EN 397 industrial helmet, confirm the standard before ordering or select the VERTEX VENT.

Setting and inspection

The instructions for use say the helmet meets EN 12492 only when the chinstrap strength is set to greater than 50 kg, so set it for work at height before climbing. For ground work the strength is set to less than 25 kg to reduce the risk of strangulation. Avoid paint, solvents, adhesives and self-adhesive labels unless Petzl recommends them, and protect the helmet from high temperatures and chemicals. Petzl recommends a detailed inspection by a competent person at least once every 12 months.
