Description
A lightweight half mask that fits under a welding helmet
The Moldex 7000 Series is a reusable half-mask respirator with a low-profile, compact facepiece. Moldex designed it to sit comfortably under a welding helmet and with safety glasses, and the datasheet describes an extra-wide sealing area and a wide field of vision. The strap can be dropped to hang the mask around the neck between jobs or locked into position, and an adjustable head cradle with curved neck buckles gives a custom fit. Maintenance is simple because there are few replacement parts.
The facepiece takes bayonet-mount cartridges and filters. Moldex sells it as a facepiece alone and as pre-assembled kits, in small, medium and large, so the order has to name both the size and the cartridge or filter combination for the contaminant.

Choosing the size, filter and cartridge
A half mask only protects if it is the right size and the right filter. Moldex requires a qualitative or quantitative fit test before a respirator is assigned, and a written respiratory protection programme that meets applicable standards. The cartridge or filter has to be chosen for the specific contaminant: for particulates the datasheet notes that N, R or P filters are required, and oil mists rule out N filters. Pre-assembled kits make ordering simpler for common jobs such as organic vapours, paint spray or P100 particulate protection.
Moldex warns that this half mask is not for atmospheres that are immediately dangerous to life or health, for unknown concentrations, or for gases and vapours with poor warning properties. Combined with a nuisance-level organic vapour or acid gas filter it must not be used above the exposure limit. For fumes during welding, the cartridge and filter choice and the welding helmet fit must be checked together.

The attached Moldex data sheet gives the part-number table and the full warnings and limitations, and Moldex also publishes a NIOSH approval matrix for the cartridge and filter combinations. The respirator is NIOSH approved; confirm that this approval meets your site standard.
