Moxa MGate 5134 Modbus to PROFINET Gateway
Description
What the MGate 5134 converts between
A one-port gateway that connects Modbus RTU, ASCII or TCP devices to a PROFINET network, acting as a PROFINET IO device towards the controller and Modbus client towards the field. Moxa’s own one-line description of the MGate 5134 reads: 1-port Modbus RTU/ASCII/TCP-to-PROFINET gateways, -10 to 60°C operating temperature.
On the datasheet side, the power input is 12 to 48 VDC; operating temperature is -10 to 60°C (14 to 140°F); dimensions are 25 x 90 x 129.6 mm (0.98 x 3.54 x 5.1 in); weight is 294 g (0.65 lb); the enclosure is rated IP30.
Standards and approvals printed for this model include safety standard EN 61010-2-201; UL 61010-2-201. Approvals can differ between variants of a series, so check the one on the exact order code.

Selecting the right variant
Compared with the MGate 5135, which targets EtherNet/IP, this version fits PROFINET plants. The serial side has a DB9 male connector with built-in 2 kV isolation and a baud rate from 300 bps to 921.6 kbps.
On the practical side, the housing is metal; the stated MTBF is 1,240,821 hrs; the warranty period is 5 years. Treat the MTBF as a manufacturer prediction under its stated method, not a guarantee for your site.
Before ordering, confirm the Modbus slave addresses and register maps of your devices, the PROFINET engineering tool compatibility and the temperature range, which is -10 to 60 degrees C in the standard version. About brand
Moxa is the Taiwanese maker of industrial networking equipment: Ethernet switches, serial device servers, protocol gateways, media converters, secure routers and remote I/O. It was founded in Taiwan in 1987 and started with serial communication products before moving into industrial Ethernet. It is headquartered in Taipei.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Moxa switches, serial servers, gateways and converters, and supply them to control system integrators, utilities, oil and gas and building automation projects in Oman and the GCC by exact model.

The choice between switch types follows the network. An unmanaged switch simply forwards traffic and suits a small, isolated panel. A managed switch adds redundancy protocols (Moxa's Turbo Ring recovers a broken ring in milliseconds), VLANs to separate traffic, port mirroring and alarms, which a SCADA or DCS network needs. The suffix on a Moxa model also matters: "-T" means a wide operating temperature range (typically -40 to 75 °C), which is the safe choice for outdoor cabinets in the Gulf summer. "-MM-SC" or "-S-SC" means multi-mode or single-mode fibre with SC connectors.
Where Moxa products are used
In Oman and the GCC, Moxa equipment connects RTUs, PLCs, meters and protection relays in oil and gas fields, electrical substations, water and wastewater SCADA, transport, and building and energy management systems.
Ordering Moxa products: what we need
Send the complete model including all suffixes (for example EDS-508A-MM-SC-T), the quantity, and for fibre models the fibre type and distance. For gateways, tell us which two protocols need to be linked.
