Brand:

Moxa EDS-510E-3GTXSFP 7+3G Managed Gigabit Ethernet Switch

Description

Gigabit ring and uplink in a 10-port managed switch

The Moxa EDS-510E-3GTXSFP combines seven 10/100BaseT(X) ports with three Gigabit combo ports, each usable as 10/100/1000BaseT(X) copper or as a 100/1000BaseSFP slot. Two of the Gigabit ports can close a Gigabit Turbo Ring while the third serves as an uplink to a control-room backbone. Turbo Ring and Turbo Chain recover in under 50 ms at 250 switches, and MRP, RSTP, STP and MSTP are also listed. A USB Type A port stores configuration, system files and firmware, and V-ON is described by Moxa as keeping multicast data and video recovery at millisecond level. The switch carries EtherNet/IP, PROFINET IO device and Modbus TCP protocol support for monitoring from SCADA and PLC tools.

Ordering codes

Model 10/100 RJ45 ports Gigabit combo ports Operating temperature
EDS-510E-3GTXSFP 7 3 -10 to 60 deg C
EDS-510E-3GTXSFP-T 7 3 -40 to 75 deg C

The series has just these two codes. SFP modules are not included and must be chosen for the fibre type and distance of each link; Moxa lists modules for 100 Mbit/s and 1000 Mbit/s fibre, including WDM and long-reach types.

Where it fits and what to check

With power-substation (IEC 61850-3, IEEE 1613) and railway (EN 50121-4) ratings listed, the EDS-510E suits substation and traffic networks as well as process plants. It is a good step up from the 8-port Moxa EDS-G508E where a mix of Fast Ethernet field ports and Gigabit rings is needed. Configuration is by web browser, Telnet or USB console, CLI, MXconfig and the ABC-02-USB configurator; the package includes a USB cable and port caps. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, supplies this model; confirm the SFP modules, the temperature variant and the approvals required by your project before ordering. The Moxa datasheet (version 1.9) is attached, and related products are listed under Industrial Communications. For commissioning, ring roles can be set with DIP switches (Turbo Ring, Master, Coupler, Reserve) or by software, and the front LEDs show state, fault, ring master or head and coupler or tail. The relay output and digital input allow the switch to report a power or port fault and to read a dry contact such as a door switch. Use the USB storage port with the ABC-02-USB configurator so that a replacement switch can be loaded with the saved configuration without a laptop.

About brand

Since 1987 Moxa, based in New Taipei City, Taiwan, has built networking hardware for places where an office switch would fail: substations, wellhead panels, roadside cabinets. Seven Star LLC lists Moxa industrial Ethernet switches and fiber converters and supplies Moxa networking devices to system integrators and plant teams in Oman as an independent supplier. Each request is checked against the full Moxa model name before we quote.

Moxa switches and converters listed here

The EDS-G508E is a managed switch with eight Gigabit ports from the EDS managed line. The EDS-316-MM-SC-T is a 16-port unmanaged switch with 14 copper ports, two multi-mode SC fiber ports and the wide-temperature option (-40 to 75 C). The TCF-142-S-SC-T belongs to the TCF-142 series, which converts RS-232/422/485 serial signals to single-mode fiber. Moxa also makes serial device servers, protocol gateways, wireless devices and industrial computers, used on SCADA and telemetry networks across the GCC.

Ordering Moxa devices: what we need

The suffixes carry the specification. Send the complete model name, including fiber mode and connector (MM-SC, SS-SC, ST), the -T wide-temperature suffix and any coating or approval suffix. Add the power supply voltage, the SFP modules needed and the quantity.
