Brand: Hughes Safety Showers
Hughes STD-TC-100KS/45G Temperature Controlled Safety Shower
Description
The Hughes STD-TC-100KS/45G is a safety shower and closed bowl eye/face wash with its own 300 litre heated tank and a thermostatic mixing valve that holds the delivered water within the tepid range.
Tepid water where no hot supply exists
When a reliable hot water supply is not available, or ambient temperatures are low, this unit stores and heats its own water. The datasheet states that the 300 litre integral tank stays on standby to deliver 15 minutes of water within the tepid range, and the high flow thermostatically controlled mixing valve holds the temperature between 22 and 28 C, factory set at 25 C and adjustable.
It is suitable for indoor or outdoor use and for hazardous or non-hazardous areas, with an ATEX Zone 1 and 2, gas groups IIA and IIB, temperature class T3 rating for the electrical equipment. The shower delivers a minimum 76 litres per minute and the eye wash 12 litres per minute. The stainless steel frame is insulated with polyurethane foam in a GRP outer casing.

Sizing the supply for a stand-alone heated unit
This is a larger unit than the pole-mounted showers, 230 kg and 1677 mm deep, so the base and access must be planned. It still needs a cold water supply at 2 to 6 bar g to refill the tank, but not one that can deliver the full 76 litres per minute during an emergency, because the tank carries that load. The datasheet prints the shower flow as 76 L/min with a US gallon figure that does not match, so this page quotes only the litre value.
The temperature set point is adjustable, which helps where the EN15154 and ANSI ranges differ slightly, 15 to 37 C against 16 to 38 C in the Hughes summaries. The ANSI summary notes that water above 38 C risks scalding and water below 16 C risks hypothermia, so check the delivered temperature at commissioning and during weekly tests.
| Hughes model | Configuration | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| EXP-SD-18GS/45G | Self-draining shower and eye wash | Outdoor hot climates |
| EXP-AH-5GS/45G | Trace tape heated shower and eye wash | Outdoor freezing climates |
| EXP-EJ-5GS/45G | Jacketed and insulated shower and eye wash | Solar exposure, warm climates |
| MPC-H-2GS/11KS | Polar shower within insulated cubicle | Exposed freezing sites |
Options and what to confirm before ordering
Listed options are a foot panel or treadle, shower and eye wash sign, lighting, audible and visual alarm, a shower rose, GRP safety barriers and a deluge tester kit. The product page also notes a second outlet that can supply other safety showers nearby from the heated water. Confirm the supply voltage and cable route, the hazardous-area classification, the cold water inlet, the lowest ambient temperature and the foundation.
Documents and quotation
Two Hughes documents are linked from this page: the English datasheet for STD-TC-100KS/45G and the installation, operation and maintenance guide for its family, both unaltered. Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat and prepares quotations for STD-TC-100KS/45G and related Hughes models once the request states the minimum and maximum ambient temperature, the zone and gas group where relevant, and the supply route. More site safety equipment is listed under Safety and PPE.

About brand
Hughes Safety Showers is a UK manufacturer of emergency safety showers, eye/face washes and decontamination equipment, headquartered in Stockport, England. The company traces its origin to JD Hughes Fabrications, founded in 1950, which began to manufacture emergency shower and eye wash equipment specifically in 1968, and it is now part of the Justrite Safety Group.
Emergency showers and eye washes
The Hughes range covers indoor and outdoor tank fed and plumbed-in safety showers, plumbed and self-contained eye washes, mobile safety showers and portable decontamination showers, built to meet EN15154 and ANSI Z358.1-2014. Models are offered for cold climates, hot climates and hazardous areas, and the company brochure lists ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification.
Hughes equipment at Seven Star LLC
Seven Star LLC lists selected Hughes safety showers and eye washes with the manufacturer datasheet for each model, so the configuration, water supply and temperature range can be checked before a request for quotation. State the hazard, supply pressure, ambient temperature range and any hazardous-area class when asking for a quotation.
