Ridgegear RGHL1 Horizontal Temporary Lifeline Kit 10m or 20m
Description
RGHL1 is a Ridgegear horizontal temporary lifeline kit: a webbing anchor line with an integral ratchet tensioner, two anchorage slings, two steel twistlock karabiners and a carry bag, supplied in 10 m (A) or 20 m (B) lengths. It is certified to the PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425 using test methods from EN 795:2012.
A portable horizontal line for roof and structure work
The kit carries its own bag with a shoulder strap, and once the line is fitted the bag stays fixed and holds the surplus webbing. Ridgegear lists kit contents as the horizontal webbing safety line with ratchet tensioner, anchorage slings (RGK26) x 2, 24 mm twistlock steel karabiners (RGK3) x 2 and the carry bag. Weights are 3 kg for the 10 m and 4 kg for the 20 m kit.
The user instructions describe the anchor line as polyester webbing 33 mm wide with sewn end loops and a shorter fixed end of 50 mm polyester webbing, both end loops reinforced for wear. The instructions state it is suitable for a maximum of two users, whereas the product page also gives four users in restraint; follow the instructions and risk assessment.

Selection and ordering guide
The RGHL1 is useful where workers must move along a roof or deck and a certified permanent line is not installed. Pick the 10 m or 20 m kit by the span between end anchors. It is not suitable for retractable fall arresters or guided type fall arresters with flexible anchor lines, because the recoil could release the locking mechanism.
Use at least double-action connectors with a rounded profile large enough not to abrade the webbing, and attach to the harness point marked A, never to work positioning rings.
Installation and operation notes
Read the hazardous clearance section on deflection and potential fall distance before use and use the supplied height clearance charts. Tension is applied manually through the integral ratchet. Do not write directly on the webbing; tag it with the inspection date instead.
Before every use the user inspects webbing, stitching, metal parts and marking; reject on any defect. Dispose after 10 years regardless of condition.
Inspection before use covers webbing, stitching, metal parts such as the ratchet and karabiners, and product marking; reject on any defect. Keep a record card with first use and inspection dates. The instructions also say the product is certified under the PPE Regulation as brought into UK law and amended, and the revision referenced here is Issue F, September 2025.
Applications in Oman and the GCC
Roof access, plant-room roofs, tank farms and installation work where restraint or limited fall arrest is needed. In hot climates avoid leaving the webbing in strong sunlight when not in use.
Plan rescue before working: the instructions require a suitable rescue plan.
When not in use, store the kit in its bag in a clean, dry area away from heat, sunlight and sharp objects; if it gets wet, dry it naturally. Clean with mild detergent and rinse in clean warm water, and wipe grit from the ratchet and hooks so they operate smoothly.
