Brand: Hughes Safety Showers
Hughes EXP-MH-14KS/350 Immersion Heated 350 L Tank Safety Shower
Description
The Hughes EXP-MH-14KS/350 stores 350 litres of water in a heated and insulated overhead tank, giving an emergency shower that works without a reliable mains supply and keeps its water in the tepid range in cold weather.
Tepid water from a stored 350 litre tank
The datasheet positions this unit as protection for worker safety whatever the weather. The immersion heater holds the tank water within 15 to 38 C, and the model is suitable for both hazardous and non-hazardous environments: the electrical equipment is listed for ATEX Zone 1 and 2, gas groups IIA and IIB, temperature class T3, with IIC available and non-flameproof models also offered.
The 350 litre tank is the smaller of the two heated sizes on the Hughes tank range and is the practical choice for a single operator station. Shower flow is a minimum of 76 litres per minute through a GRP and stainless steel shower rose, started by a red stainless steel panic bar or an optional foot panel, with an optional eye/face wash mounted inside or outside the frame.

Cold-weather duty and the electrical supply
A heated tank solves the opposite problem to a hot-climate tank: water that would be too cold to stand under for 15 minutes. EN15154 asks for tepid water, and the ANSI summary notes that prolonged exposure to water below 16 C risks thermal shock and stops a casualty decontaminating for the full period. The heater is the reason to choose this model over an unheated tank where nights are cold.
Set the electrical design before ordering: the heater needs a 240 V single phase feed, or 110 V if specified, and a hazardous-area installation needs a certified supply route. The web product page quotes operation down to -10 C, whereas the datasheet gives -30 C only with trace tape on the valve assembly and eye wash line; this page follows the datasheet.
| Hughes model | Configuration | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| EXP-J-14KS/1500 | 1500 L tank fed shower, jacketed and insulated | Mains water unreliable, hot climate |
| STD-TC-100KS/45G | Temperature controlled shower and eye wash, 300 L heated tank | No hot water supply |
| MPC-H-2GS/11KS | Polar shower within insulated cubicle | Exposed freezing sites |
| STD-MH-P-1200L | Towable heated 1200 L shower and eye wash | Remote work fronts |
Options and what to confirm before ordering
Listed options include a GRP ladder platform, GRP panels, drain sump and grating, syphon dump valve, temperature gauge, level indicator, foot panel or treadle, lighting, audible and visual alarm, Hydroclenz tank preservative, a handheld shower, strip screens, ramps, barriers, hose reels and a deluge tester kit. Confirm the lowest site temperature, the hazardous area zone and gas group, the supply voltage and the position of the tank refill line. The datasheet does not print option part numbers, so options should be listed by name in the request.
Documents and quotation
Two Hughes documents are linked from this page: the English datasheet for EXP-MH-14KS/350 and the installation, operation and maintenance guide for its family, both unaltered. Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat and prepares quotations for EXP-MH-14KS/350 and related Hughes models once the request states the site temperature range, hazardous-area zone, electrical supply and the water source for refilling the tank. More site safety equipment is listed under Safety and PPE.

About brand
Hughes Safety Showers is a UK manufacturer of emergency safety showers, eye/face washes and decontamination equipment, headquartered in Stockport, England. The company traces its origin to JD Hughes Fabrications, founded in 1950, which began to manufacture emergency shower and eye wash equipment specifically in 1968, and it is now part of the Justrite Safety Group.
Emergency showers and eye washes
The Hughes range covers indoor and outdoor tank fed and plumbed-in safety showers, plumbed and self-contained eye washes, mobile safety showers and portable decontamination showers, built to meet EN15154 and ANSI Z358.1-2014. Models are offered for cold climates, hot climates and hazardous areas, and the company brochure lists ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification.
Hughes equipment at Seven Star LLC
Seven Star LLC lists selected Hughes safety showers and eye washes with the manufacturer datasheet for each model, so the configuration, water supply and temperature range can be checked before a request for quotation. State the hazard, supply pressure, ambient temperature range and any hazardous-area class when asking for a quotation.
