KROHNE OPTIMASS 7400 Straight-Tube Coriolis Mass Flowmeter

Description

High-end Coriolis meter for demanding process media and custody transfer

The KROHNE OPTIMASS 7400 is a high-end Coriolis mass flowmeter with a single straight measuring tube. KROHNE positions it for challenging process media and custody transfer, including gases, shear-sensitive or viscous liquids, slurries and very aggressive chemicals. Mass, density and volume flow are measured with +/-0.1 percent of measured value, and the meter holds the highest OIML accuracy class of 0.3 for custody transfer. The Entrained Gas Management function keeps the meter running when air or gas bubbles pass through a liquid, and Bluetooth gives a secure wireless link for commissioning, verification and diagnostics within about 20 m.

Four sensor materials are listed: titanium, duplex stainless steel, Alloy 22 and tantalum, which lets one family handle acids, chlorides and other corrosive liquids. A food and beverage version is also listed, and hygienic approvals on the page include FDA, 3A, EHEDG, EC 1935/2004 and ASME BPE. Ex approvals cover ATEX, IECEx, NEPSI, EAC Ex, cFMus, INMETRO, KCs and UKEX.

Typical duties

The manufacturer names chemical batching to reactors, bulk loading, concentration and density measurement of acids and bases, plus dairy reception, juice Brix and density, liquid chocolate, syrup and CO2 injection in food plants. It also names viscous and non-homogeneous mixtures and slurries with entrained solids.

Because a straight tube drains easily and has no bends, it suits products that must be cleaned or emptied completely, and it keeps pressure drop low for viscous liquids.

Specifying a unit

The technical datasheet gives a table of sizes with their nominal flow rates; as printed in that table, size 06 is 1230 kg/h and size 25 is 44800 kg/h. Use it with your viscosity, density and pressure drop limits to choose the size, then choose tube material, connection and converter version.

Check Ex and custody-transfer certificates for the exact configuration before ordering. The hosted TD is dated 2015 (R01), so ask for the current revision and available fieldbus options when you send the request. A derived point: sensor and converter must be ordered as one verified system for fiscal use.

About brand

KROHNE is the German flow and level measurement company founded in Duisburg in 1921 as Ludwig Krohne & Sohn. Its first customers were Ruhr steel producers, for whom it built variable area flowmeters. KROHNE dates the first electromagnetic flowmeter for industrial process measurement to 1952. It is still family-owned and headquartered in Duisburg.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list KROHNE electromagnetic, Coriolis, ultrasonic and variable area flowmeters, radar level transmitters and flow computers, and supply them to water utilities, oil and gas and process plants in Oman and the GCC by order code.

The flowmeter principle follows the medium. Electromagnetic meters need a conductive liquid, have no moving parts and no pressure loss, and suit water and slurries. Coriolis meters measure mass flow and density directly, so they work for hydrocarbons and non-conductive liquids. Ultrasonic meters handle gas and large pipes, and multi-path designs such as the ALTOSONIC V12 are used for custody transfer. Variable area meters need no power at all and give a simple local reading.

Where KROHNE instruments are used

In Oman and the GCC, KROHNE flowmeters and level transmitters are used in water transmission and distribution, desalination, wastewater, oil and gas production and fiscal metering, refineries, petrochemical and chemical plants, and power stations.
