KROHNE OPTIMASS 3400 Low-Flow Coriolis Mass Flowmeter
Description
Compact Coriolis meter for low flow, dosing and injection
The KROHNE OPTIMASS 3400 is a cost-effective Coriolis mass flowmeter with a single Z-shaped tube for low flow and dosing applications. It measures liquids and gases from about 0.3 kg/h (0.01 lb/min) upwards, with accuracy of +/-0.1 percent of measured value for liquids and +/-0.5 percent for gases, and a maximum process pressure of 300 barg (4351 psig). The Entrained Gas Management function keeps the meter running when air or gas bubbles pass through a liquid, and Bluetooth gives a secure wireless link for commissioning, verification and diagnostics within about 20 m.
Three sizes share a single footprint, and the sensor is available in 316L stainless steel or Alloy 22. Process connections are small: DN15 or 1/2 in flanges, DN10 clamp, 1/2 in Tri-Clamp and welded ends. An optional PED-approved secondary pressure containment is offered up to 30 barg (435 psig).

Where it fits
The product page names natural gas and propane odorisation and chemical injection in oil and gas, fragrance dispensing and ingredient dosing in pharmaceuticals, additives and colourants in paper, CO2 injection in beverages and engine test beds in automotive laboratories.
It is the compact member of the OPTIMASS 7400, 2400 and 6400 family and is chosen where the line size is small and flows are in the kilogram-per-hour range.
Selecting size and options
The data sheet lists three sizes with nominal flow rates; the smallest, size 01, is printed as 20 kg/h. Match the maximum batch rate, the viscosity and the pressure drop, and pick the connection that fits your skid.
Confirm the converter version, bus protocol and Ex marking in the request. The hosted TD is dated 2016 (R01), so ask for the latest revision. A derived reminder: very low flows are sensitive to vibration and zero-point drift, so mount the meter on a rigid support, avoid pipe stress at the small connections, and keep the line full and free of pulsation from reciprocating pumps.
For dosing skids, mount the sensor so that the Z-tube drains and no gas pockets stay in the tube, use the zero-point adjustment with the line full and the flow stopped, and keep the pipework free of vibration from pumps. Select a converter with the pulse or fieldbus output that your batch controller expects, and note the secondary containment option when the process fluid is hazardous.

About brand
KROHNE is the German flow and level measurement company founded in Duisburg in 1921 as Ludwig Krohne & Sohn. Its first customers were Ruhr steel producers, for whom it built variable area flowmeters. KROHNE dates the first electromagnetic flowmeter for industrial process measurement to 1952. It is still family-owned and headquartered in Duisburg.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list KROHNE electromagnetic, Coriolis, ultrasonic and variable area flowmeters, radar level transmitters and flow computers, and supply them to water utilities, oil and gas and process plants in Oman and the GCC by order code.

The flowmeter principle follows the medium. Electromagnetic meters need a conductive liquid, have no moving parts and no pressure loss, and suit water and slurries. Coriolis meters measure mass flow and density directly, so they work for hydrocarbons and non-conductive liquids. Ultrasonic meters handle gas and large pipes, and multi-path designs such as the ALTOSONIC V12 are used for custody transfer. Variable area meters need no power at all and give a simple local reading.
Where KROHNE instruments are used
In Oman and the GCC, KROHNE flowmeters and level transmitters are used in water transmission and distribution, desalination, wastewater, oil and gas production and fiscal metering, refineries, petrochemical and chemical plants, and power stations.
