Rheonik RHE46 Economic DIN Rail Mass Flow Transmitter

Description

Coriolis transmission in a 72 mm DIN rail module

The Rheonik RHE46 is the economic option in the transmitter range: an all-digital multifunction transmitter housed in a small DIN rail case with no display or keys. It targets filling and batching, high accuracy flow or density measurement, chemical mixing and blending, and polyurethane and paint dosing, all in cabinets where space and cost matter. It connects to any Rheonik Coriolis sensor and measures mass flow, volumetric flow, density and temperature together.

Because the configuration is plug and play from the factory, the module is built around the cabinet: mount it on the rail, land the sensor cable and I/O, and change settings through RHECom only when needed.

Datasheet features

  • Easy and cost-effective DIN rail mounting with a real time clock and advanced signal processing.
  • Eight totalizers: two non-resettable and six for mass or volume in forward, reverse and net.
  • Wide interface choice from USB and Modbus RTU to Modbus TCP, ProfiNet and EtherNet/IP.
  • License-free RHECom version for configuration and servicing; RHEComPro+ for extended diagnostics.

Part number code

Housing RB is the DIN rail version and RJ adds an RJ45 socket. Power code D1 is 12 to 24 VDC. The software packages are SO (standard), DO (measured density), AF (Assurance Factor, data recording, PID controller), OG (API standard density, Net Oil, concentration), CT (adds Precision Flow Analysis and a hardware lock switch) and FR (adds Super Fast Response firmware at 4 kHz). I/O codes are B1 (two digital outputs, two inputs, Modbus), EB (adds Modbus TCP), EN (EtherNet/IP and Modbus TCP), EP (ProfiNet) and S1 (one 4-20 mA output). Options include a hardware lock switch (NNH) and customized I/O presetting (NSI).

Software packages and cabinet notes

The Standard Operation package gives direct mass flow, temperature, fixed and calculated density, standardized gas volume, resettable and non-resettable totalizers, a self-learning batch controller and password protection. Choosing DO adds live density, Brix and Baume units; AF adds the Assurance Factor, zero point history, data recording and a PID controller. The module has no local controls, so plan for a laptop with RHECom during commissioning. Use the PW module if no 24 VDC supply is available in the cabinet.

Accessories listed

  • C4 standard and C6 steel armoured sensor cable, priced per metre; P3 and P0 pre-assembled 3 m and 10 m cables.
  • IT and IM interconnection boxes, an RS cable for the PC and a PW DIN rail power supply module (85-250 VAC to 24 VDC, 15 W, non Ex).
  • MO RS485 to USB converter and RHEComPRO or PRO+ licence keys.

Compared with the display models

Unlike the RHE26 and RHE28, the RHE46 has no display or buttons, no AC power input and no hazardous-area approval of its own, but it is the only one of the three that lists ProfiNet and EtherNet/IP. It carries one optional 4-20 mA output and up to two pulse, frequency or status outputs, so most signals travel over the digital interface. Its working range is -20 to +65 C, which is slightly higher than the +60 C limit of the display units.

Where it fits

Place the RHE46 in a control cabinet or skid panel in a safe area, with the sensor cable running out to the Coriolis meter. This keeps electronics out of the plant heat and dust that is typical in Gulf sites.

Because the module has no display, verify the output wiring and the sensor cable type before power-up; the datasheet lists the C4 standard cable as halogen free, rated -50 to +105 C with nine wires. Keep the RHECom configuration file with the project documents so the settings can be restored after any service work.

Selection and installation notes

A mass flow transmitter must match the sensor it is connected to, so confirm the sensor model, the cable length, the supply voltage, the output types and the area classification before ordering. Keep the signal cable away from power cables, ground the shield as described in the manual, protect the housing from direct heat and water ingress and record the calibration factors and zero values at commissioning. Use the correct cable glands and seals, particularly in hazardous areas.

About brand

Rheonik is a German manufacturer of Coriolis mass flow meters, founded in 1986 by Karl Küppers near Munich after he began developing the meter in 1984. The company moved to a larger site in Odelzhausen in 2003. GE acquired the Rheonik Coriolis line in 2008, and in 2015 a management buyout formed Rheonik Messtechnik GmbH, which took the business back out of GE.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Rheonik sensors and transmitters with their official datasheets for oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical and filling applications in Oman and the GCC.
