Brand:

Danfoss 134F2977 FC 360 AutomationDrive 4 kW Brake IP20

Description

FC 360 4 kW with brake chopper and load sharing in the J2 frame

Danfoss 134F2977 is an FC-360H4K0T4E20H2BXCDXX drive: 4.0 kW (5.5 HP) at high overload on 380 to 480 V, IP20 chassis, J2 frame. The H in the power field means the high-overload rating, and the list of options is short but significant: B for a brake chopper, C for coated boards and D for load sharing terminals.

The store reports 3.6 kg net mass and lists the RFI filter as class A2. There is no display (X), so the drive is configured through a separate panel, a PC tool or the fieldbus. The FC 360 operating guide covers sizes from 0.37 to 90 kW.

Load sharing: what it is and when it helps

Load sharing connects the DC links of two or more drives so that one drive’s regenerated energy is used by another that is motoring. This is common in multi-motor lines such as winders, printing machines and conveyor groups, where the loads brake and drive at the same time. It reduces the braking resistor energy and the supply current.

It requires careful design, with fuses on the DC terminals and drives of compatible sizes, and the details are in the Danfoss guide. Do not wire load sharing without the manufacturer’s data.

Mounting and compliance

The operating guide notes that the IP20 drive must be installed in a cabinet or with an IP21 conversion kit to avoid electric shock. The coated boards give extra protection in humid, dusty air; the brake chopper needs an external resistor sized for the duty.

Because the A2 emission class is for industrial environments, a drive installed in a residential or light-commercial area may need an additional filter. Check the EMC requirements of your site.

Drives with load sharing are usually delivered as a group of identical or matched units, so tell us the number of drives and the planned DC-link layout in your enquiry. We can then check that each requested code carries the same options and avoid mixing codes that look alike. Keep the type code of every drive in the machine documentation, because the options cannot be seen from outside.

When you receive 134F2977, compare the code on the label with the order and with this page before installation. Report any difference immediately, keep the original packing for the first days, and store the unit dry and clean until the installation crew is ready to start.

Ordering notes

Please confirm supply, motor current and options before ordering, as other FC 360 codes differ in options, display and RFI class. About brand

Danfoss is the Danish engineering group that makes refrigeration and air-conditioning controls, heating components, variable speed drives and mobile hydraulics. Mads Clausen founded it on 1 September 1933 at his parents' farm in Nordborg on the island of Als, after making his first refrigeration expansion valve in 1932. Nordborg is still the group's headquarters, and Danfoss remains controlled by the Clausen family through the Bitten & Mads Clausen Foundation.

Danfoss company profile

Milestones

  • 1932–1933: First expansion valve; the company is founded in Nordborg.
  • 1939: 26 employees. By the 10th anniversary in 1943 the company has 179.
  • 1950s: Rapid growth turns Nordborg into a Danfoss town with housing and schools for its workforce.
  • 1968: Danfoss launches its VLT frequency converter, one of the first mass-produced AC drives.
  • 2014: Acquisition of the Finnish drives maker Vacon, now the VACON brand.
  • 2021: Acquisition of Eaton's hydraulics business.

Choosing Danfoss products

For solenoid valves, check the operating principle. A direct-operated valve such as EV210B opens even at 0 bar differential pressure. A servo-operated valve such as EV220B needs a minimum differential (typically about 0.3 bar) to open, while an assisted-lift valve such as EV250B works from 0 bar. Coils are ordered separately, so the voltage on the coil (for example 230 V AC or 24 V DC) must match the control circuit. For drives, the VLT family is split by application: FC 51 Micro Drive for small machines, FC 102 HVAC Drive for fans and pumps in buildings, FC 202 AQUA Drive for water, and FC 302 AutomationDrive for demanding industrial duty.

Where Danfoss products are used

In Oman and the GCC, Danfoss drives run pumps, fans and compressors in district cooling plants, water and wastewater stations, desalination and building HVAC. Danfoss pressure switches, transmitters and solenoid valves are built into chillers, refrigeration plants, boilers and hydraulic systems, and AB-QM valves balance chilled-water circuits in large buildings.

Ordering Danfoss products: what we need

Send the Danfoss code number from the label (for example 032U7115 or 131B0149) or the full drive type code (FC-302P3K0T5...). For drives, add the motor power, supply voltage and any fieldbus option. For valves, add the size, connection, medium and coil voltage. For pressure switches and transmitters, add the range, output and pressure connection.

Facts checked against Danfoss's company history pages and published company data, October 2026.
