Danfoss 134F2976 VLT AutomationDrive FC 360, 3 kW, frame J2
Description
The 3 kW FC 360 in the J2 frame for 400 V pumps, fans and conveyors
Danfoss order number 134F2976 is the type FC-360H3K0T4E20H2BXCDXXSXXXXAXBX: a VLT AutomationDrive FC 360 rated 3.0 kW (4 hp) at heavy overload on three-phase 380-480 V. At this rating the FC 360 changes from the J1 to the larger J2 frame, 90 mm wide and 272.5 mm high, which it shares with the 4.0 and 5.5 kW ratings. A 3 kW motor is a standard size for process pumps, extract fans and conveyors, and an OEM that standardises on one drive family can cover them with the same configuration shown here: brake chopper, coated board, load-sharing terminals and the C3 RFI filter.

Selection and installation notes
The design guide lists a maximum motor cable length of 50 m screened and 75 m unscreened, and a control-terminal capacity of 2.5 mm2. Mounting holes for J2 are 260 mm by 70 mm. Danfoss gives the J2 weight as 3.6 kg. The drive switches on the mains at most twice per minute up to 7.5 kW. Use the nameplate to confirm the overload class of the unit you replace, heavy duty (H) or normal duty (Q), since the type code selects between them.
The FC 360 type code can also select embedded PROFIBUS (A0) or PROFINET (AL); this drive has the standard control card (AX) without embedded fieldbus, so confirm whether your network requires one before ordering.
Danfoss quotes the supply as 380-480 V with a tolerance of -15% to +10% and allows operation at -25% input voltage with reduced performance, limiting maximum output power to 75% in that case. The enclosure is IP20 with a 1.0 g vibration rating, 5-95% non-condensing humidity and storage temperatures from -25 to +65/70 °C, while altitude above 1000 m needs derating up to 3000 m.
Panel installation of the 134F2976
Fix the J2 drive upright on a flat, conductive back plate using the mounting holes given in the design guide, and leave the clearances above and below that Danfoss specifies for cooling air. Several FC 360 units can stand side by side, but the warm air leaving one drive should not be drawn straight into another mounted above it. Because this unit carries the C3 RFI filter, make sure it is used in the type of supply network the design guide allows for that filter, and check the guidance on IT and corner-grounded networks before connecting it to such a supply.
Use screened motor cable within the length limits already noted, clamp the screen to the back plate at the drive end and to the motor terminal box at the other, and keep mains, motor and control cables in separate routes. If the built-in brake chopper will be used, connect a brake resistor sized for the duty cycle of the application and protect its wiring as described in the design guide. Terminals for load sharing should only be used where the system design calls for linking DC circuits between drives.
Commissioning steps
As this version has no display fitted, plan how parameters will be set: with a separately ordered local control panel, or through the Danfoss PC software over the drive’s serial interface. Enter the motor data from the nameplate, run the automatic motor adaptation where the motor can be connected for it, and choose the control principle that suits the load. Set ramps, speed limits and the start and reference sources, then run the motor uncoupled at low speed to confirm the direction before coupling the pump, fan or conveyor. Save a copy of the finished settings for spares and future replacements.
Oman and GCC operating conditions
The coated circuit board in this configuration gives extra resistance to the corrosive atmospheres found near coastal plants, refineries and wastewater sites in Oman and the Gulf, but the drive is still an IP20 unit that needs a clean, ventilated enclosure. Size the panel cooling for summer peak temperatures, with the estimated power loss of the drive included in the heat calculation, and consult the derating curves in the design guide if the cabinet air will be hot. Fine sand clogs filter mats and heat sinks, so plan frequent filter changes. Avoid condensation by keeping the panel above the dew point, particularly where air conditioning cycles on and off in humid coastal air.
Maintenance checks
During shutdowns, isolate the supply and wait for the capacitors to discharge for the time stated on the drive before opening any covers. Clean the cooling channel and fan, check terminal tightness and look for discoloured cable insulation. Read the alarm and warning log; repeated overvoltage trips during stopping can indicate that the brake resistor is missing, undersized or disconnected, while overcurrent trips often point to the motor cable or a mechanical problem in the driven equipment.

About brand
From its headquarters in Nordborg, Denmark, where it was founded in 1933, Danfoss makes the drives, valves and sensors found in pump rooms, chiller plants and cold stores. Its blue VLT frequency converters are probably the most familiar of them.
Seven Star LLC lists Danfoss VLT drives, pressure transmitters, refrigeration valves and HVAC control valves, and supplies them to contractors and plant owners in Oman against the exact code number on the label.
Danfoss product families on this page
Among the VLT drives listed, three are each aimed at a different duty: the VLT HVAC Drive FC 102 for fans and building services, the VLT AQUA Drive FC 202 for water and wastewater pumping, and the VLT AutomationDrive FC 302 for general industrial machinery. The LCP 12 control panel with potentiometer (code number 132B0101) is also listed; Danfoss specifies it for the VLT Micro Drive FC 51. In pressure measurement there are the MBS 3000 general purpose transmitter and the MBS 5100. Valves include the AB-QM pressure independent control valve in DN 15 to DN 250, the EVR 25 servo-operated solenoid valve and the ICV pilot-operated valve for industrial refrigeration.
Where Danfoss equipment is used
District cooling and chilled water plants, air handling units, booster and irrigation pump stations, desalination and wastewater works, ammonia and CO2 refrigeration plants, food storage and marine engine rooms are the usual places. Demand in the GCC is driven largely by cooling and water.
Ordering Danfoss parts: what we need
Every Danfoss product has a code number, and drives also carry a long type code string on the label. Send both. For a drive we need the motor power and current, the mains voltage, enclosure rating, any fieldbus or option card and the filter class. For an MBS transmitter give the pressure span, output signal, pressure connection and electrical connection. For valves give the size, connection type, coil voltage where relevant and the refrigerant or medium.
