Danfoss 131B4268 FC 102 HVAC Drive 30 kW 380-480 V IP55

Description

FC 102 30 kW in IP55: a 40 HP HVAC drive for large fans and pumps

Danfoss 131B4268 is the 30 kW (40 HP) member of the FC 102 line in this lane. It is an FC-102P30KT4E55H1XG, so the enclosure is IP55 / Type 12 and the RFI filter is H1 (class A1/B). With a continuous current of 61 A at normal overload and 42.3 kVA apparent power, it drives the large supply fans of a building or the main chilled-water pumps of a district cooling plant.

The B2 frame is 664 mm high with a footprint of 243 x 261 mm and a net weight of 29.09 kg. That is a two-person lift, so plan the wall fixings or the floor stand beforehand.

Energy and mechanical considerations

On fans and centrifugal pumps the torque falls with the square of speed, so a variable-speed drive saves energy. The 110 % overload capacity quoted for normal overload suits this load profile. The loss of 698 W is the number to use when calculating plant-room cooling load.

Because the unit is IP55 the heat leaves through the back-channel heat sink and the fans, not through a sealed box; keep the cooling air paths clear and do not stack equipment above the drive. In dusty Omani sites a periodic cleaning of the heat sink should be part of the maintenance plan.

Code structure and what is not fitted

The code FC-102P30KT4E55H1XGXXXXSXXXXAXBXCXXXXDX shows a graphical control panel (G) and X for the remaining options, so there is no brake chopper, no coated PCB, no mains option and no fieldbus or I/O option card. Options such as a PROFIBUS card or a brake chopper need a different code number.

Ask us before ordering if the motor runs a hoist or a high-inertia fan that needs braking, or if the site is corrosive and needs coated boards.

A 30 kW drive on a variable-torque load typically pays back its cost in a short time because the power drawn falls steeply as speed is reduced; the saving is a derived estimate and depends on the duty cycle. For a quotation, send the motor nameplate, the cable length and the ambient temperature, so that we can check the current and the derating on the page against your site.

When you receive 131B4268, compare the code on the label with the order and with this page before installation. Report any difference immediately, keep the original packing for the first days, and store the unit dry and clean until the installation crew is ready to start.

Ordering notes

Confirm supply, motor current and ambient temperature before ordering. Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat and can quote 131B4268. The attached file is the Danfoss FC 102 design guide AJ299549559248; more drives appear under AC drives.

About brand

Danfoss is the Danish engineering group that makes refrigeration and air-conditioning controls, heating components, variable speed drives and mobile hydraulics. Mads Clausen founded it on 1 September 1933 at his parents' farm in Nordborg on the island of Als, after making his first refrigeration expansion valve in 1932. Nordborg is still the group's headquarters, and Danfoss remains controlled by the Clausen family through the Bitten & Mads Clausen Foundation.

Danfoss company profile

Founded 1 September 1933, Nordborg, Denmark, by Mads Clausen (1905–1966)
First product Thermostatic expansion valve for refrigeration
Headquarters Nordborg, Denmark
Ownership Private; majority controlled by the Bitten & Mads Clausen Foundation and the Clausen family
Size About 42,000 employees (2023)
Business segments Danfoss Climate Solutions (refrigeration, air conditioning and heating), Danfoss Drives (VLT and VACON frequency converters, soft starters), Danfoss Power Solutions (mobile and industrial hydraulics)
Brands in the group VLT, VACON, Eaton Hydraulics (bought 2021), Ikusi radio remote controls

Milestones

  • 1932–1933: First expansion valve; the company is founded in Nordborg.
  • 1939: 26 employees. By the 10th anniversary in 1943 the company has 179.
  • 1950s: Rapid growth turns Nordborg into a Danfoss town with housing and schools for its workforce.
  • 1968: Danfoss launches its VLT frequency converter, one of the first mass-produced AC drives.
  • 2014: Acquisition of the Finnish drives maker Vacon, now the VACON brand.
  • 2021: Acquisition of Eaton's hydraulics business.

Choosing Danfoss products

For solenoid valves, check the operating principle. A direct-operated valve such as EV210B opens even at 0 bar differential pressure. A servo-operated valve such as EV220B needs a minimum differential (typically about 0.3 bar) to open, while an assisted-lift valve such as EV250B works from 0 bar. Coils are ordered separately, so the voltage on the coil (for example 230 V AC or 24 V DC) must match the control circuit. For drives, the VLT family is split by application: FC 51 Micro Drive for small machines, FC 102 HVAC Drive for fans and pumps in buildings, FC 202 AQUA Drive for water, and FC 302 AutomationDrive for demanding industrial duty.

Where Danfoss products are used

In Oman and the GCC, Danfoss drives run pumps, fans and compressors in district cooling plants, water and wastewater stations, desalination and building HVAC. Danfoss pressure switches, transmitters and solenoid valves are built into chillers, refrigeration plants, boilers and hydraulic systems, and AB-QM valves balance chilled-water circuits in large buildings.

Ordering Danfoss products: what we need

Send the Danfoss code number from the label (for example 032U7115 or 131B0149) or the full drive type code (FC-302P3K0T5...). For drives, add the motor power, supply voltage and any fieldbus option. For valves, add the size, connection, medium and coil voltage. For pressure switches and transmitters, add the range, output and pressure connection.

Facts checked against Danfoss's company history pages and published company data, October 2026.
