Allen-Bradley 25B-A4P8N104 PowerFlex 525 0.75 kW AC Drive
Description
A single-phase 240V PowerFlex 525 with three-phase output
The Allen-Bradley 25B-A4P8N104 runs a three-phase motor from a single-phase 200 to 240V supply. It is rated 0.75 kW (1 HP) with 4.8 A output, in frame A, and it keeps the embedded EtherNet/IP and Safe Torque Off of the 525 family. This is the drive used where only a single-phase supply is available, such as small remote sites or workshop machines.
The PowerFlex 525 adds an embedded EtherNet/IP port and Safe Torque Off, rated up to SIL 2 / PLd, to the 520-series family. Frame A measures 72 x 152 x 172 mm and weighs 1.1 kg (2.4 lb).

Input current is the key difference
On a single-phase supply the drive draws 10.7 A for a 4.8 A output (2.8 kVA), roughly twice the current of the three-phase 25B-B5P0N104. The IEC protection table therefore lists larger fuses of 16 to 25 A, a 100-C12 or 100-E12 contactor and a 140M-C2E-C16 motor protector. Cable and breaker should be sized from the input current, not from the motor rating.
Catalog number decoding: 25B is the PowerFlex 525, A is the voltage code (240V AC single-phase), the rating digits give the output current, N is the IP20 NEMA/Open enclosure, 1 is the standard keypad module, 0 is no EMC filter and 4 is standard braking, meaning the brake IGBT is included.
The ordering code differs from the 25B-B5P0N104 only in the voltage letter and the current digits, so double-check the letter A (single-phase) before placing an order. Where only a single phase is available and a larger motor is needed, the 525 series range continues to 25B-A8P0N104 and 25B-A011N104 at 2 and 3 HP.
Practical notes
Output is still 0 to 230V, three-phase, so the motor must be a standard three-phase machine rated for the voltage. Total watts loss is 50 W, and the supply range is 170 to 264V.
If the supply is weak, check the datasheet limits and ride-through behaviour. A line reactor on the input may help reduce harmonics, and the technical data lists input reactor and filter options in its accessories chapter.

Branch circuit protection for the 25B-A4P8N104
Rockwell Automation’s technical data (publication 520-TD001) lists this drive in the 200–240 V AC (−15%, +10%) single-phase input, 0–230 V three-phase output group. It is a frame A drive rated 1.0 HP / 0.75 kW in both normal and heavy duty, with a 4.8 A output current and an input voltage range of 170 to 264 V. Because the input is single-phase, the input current (10.7 A) is more than twice the output current, so the supply cable and protective device must be sized on the input side, not on the motor current.
The fuse and circuit breaker tables in the same publication give the following selections for the 25B-A4P8N104:
- IEC (non-UL) installations: fuse rating 16 A minimum, 25 A maximum; Bulletin 140M motor protection circuit breaker 140M-C2E-C16; Bulletin 140U molded case circuit breaker 140U-D6D2-C15.
- UL installations: Class CC, J or T fuses up to 25 A.
- Input contactor: 100-C12 (or 100-E12).
Always confirm the final selection against the current edition of the technical data and your local wiring regulations.
Replacement power module and options
The PowerFlex 520-series uses a detachable control module and power module. For this rating, the technical data lists the replacement power module 25-PM1-A4P8 (and 25-PM2-A4P8 for the version with an integral EMC filter). This drive has no internal EMC filter (the 0 in the catalog number); where EN 61800-3 compliance is required, Rockwell lists external filters for categories C1, C2 and C3. The PowerFlex 525 accepts two option cards, such as a dual-port EtherNet/IP card or other communication adapters, without increasing the footprint. Frame A drives can be DIN rail mounted, and zero stacking is allowed at ambient temperatures up to 45 °C (113 °F). For small single-phase machines such as fans, pumps and conveyors fed from a 230 V supply, this rating lets a standard three-phase motor be used without a three-phase supply.

About brand
Allen-Bradley is the brand of Rockwell Automation for industrial control: ControlLogix and CompactLogix controllers, I/O systems, PanelView operator terminals, PowerFlex drives, motor control and industrial network equipment. The company began in Milwaukee in 1903, when Lynde Bradley and Dr. Stanton Allen formed the Compression Rheostat Company to make the motor speed controller Bradley had invented in 1901. It took the name Allen-Bradley in 1909 and was bought by Rockwell International in 1985. Since 2001 its owner has been Rockwell Automation, which is still headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Reading Allen-Bradley catalogue numbers
The first digits of an Allen-Bradley catalogue number identify the platform, which tells you what is compatible with what. 1756 is ControlLogix (chassis-based, used for large process and plant control), 1769 is CompactLogix 5370 with Compact I/O, 5069 is CompactLogix 5380 with Compact 5000 I/O, 1734 is POINT I/O, 1794 and 5094 are FLEX and FLEX 5000 distributed I/O, 1746 and 1747 belong to the older SLC 500 family, 1766 is MicroLogix 1400 and 2080 is Micro800. For drives, 25B is PowerFlex 525 and 22B is PowerFlex 40; in a code such as 25B-D010N114, "D" means 380–480 V, "010" is the output current rating, and N114 instead of N104 means the drive has an integrated EMC filter. Many plants in the region still run SLC 500 and older MicroLogix systems, which Rockwell has discontinued, so exact spares and migration to CompactLogix are both common requests.
Where Allen-Bradley products are used
In Oman and the GCC, Allen-Bradley controllers and drives run on oil and gas facilities, water treatment and pumping stations, cement, food and beverage and packaging plants, and on machines supplied by American OEMs. ControlLogix is often the platform for plant control systems, while PowerFlex drives are used on pumps, fans and conveyors.

Ordering Allen-Bradley products: what we need
Send the full catalogue number and the series letter from the label (for example 1756-EN2T Series D), because firmware and compatibility can change between series. For drives, add the motor power, voltage and filter option. For a discontinued SLC 500 or MicroLogix part, tell us whether you need the exact spare or a migration proposal.
