Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 525 25B-D013N114 5.5 kW AC Drive
Description
A 5.5 kW PowerFlex 525 in Frame C
The Allen-Bradley 25B-D013N114 is a 5.5 kW (7.5 HP) PowerFlex 525 drive with 13.0 A output current at 380 to 480 V. It is a Frame C drive at 109 mm wide and 2.3 kg, one of the two ratings that share the C frame, and it suits compressors, process pumps, extruders and conveyors driven by 5.5 kW motors on a 400 V supply.
Like the other 525 drives it provides embedded EtherNet/IP, Safe Torque Off, two analog inputs and PM motor control, and an integral EMC filter is included with this N114 version. Frame C can still be mounted on DIN rail or with screws.

Installation and protection
The 13 A drive dissipates 175 W, which sets the cabinet ventilation need. Rockwell lists the 100-E26 contactor, the 140MT-D9E-C20 manual motor controller and IEC fuses of 20 to 35 A. Sound pressure at 1 m is 57 dBA for Frame C drives. For motors below the drive rating the manufacturer advises checking the drive nameplate for input current.
Frame C drives can be zero stacked up to 45 °C and used up to 60 °C with derating, or 70 °C with the optional control module fan kit. The brake transistor is built in on all ratings for dynamic braking with an external resistor.
Catalog code and family ratings
Reading the catalog number: 25B is the PowerFlex 525, D is the 380…480V 3-phase supply, the next group is the output current code, N is the IP20 open enclosure, 1 is the standard interface, and the following digit is the emission class: 1 means an integral EMC filter and 0 means no filter. The last digit 4 is the version.

Key features of the 25B-D013N114
- Same 5.5 kW (7.5 HP) rating for normal and heavy duty, so a constant-torque conveyor or extruder does not need a frame upsize.
- Embedded EtherNet/IP port for direct connection to Logix controllers, plus an optional dual-port card for ring topologies.
- Safe Torque Off built in, allowing the drive to form part of a machine safety function without an output contactor.
- Control modes from simple V/Hz to closed-loop velocity vector and permanent magnet motor control.
- Integral EMC filter on the N114 version, avoiding a separate external filter on most installations.
- Removable control module, which can be configured with power from a USB connection before the power module is installed.
Selection guidance
Drive sizing should start from motor full-load current rather than kilowatts. A 5.5 kW four-pole motor on 400 V normally draws less than the 13.0 A output of this drive, but high-slip, older or two-speed motors can draw more, so the nameplate current is the value to compare. Where the application needs repeated high starting torque, such as a loaded conveyor or a positive displacement pump, the heavy-duty overload of 150 % for 60 s is the figure to check. If the drive will sit in a hot enclosure, consult the derating curves for ambient temperature and carrier frequency in the user manual; running at a higher carrier frequency reduces motor noise but increases drive losses. For multi-drive panels, Frame C drives can be mounted side by side, again subject to the derating rules.
Commissioning and maintenance tips
- Enter motor nameplate data and run an autotune before using sensorless vector or PM control modes.
- Use the Connected Components Workbench software or the drive’s own keypad and wizards to set up parameters, then save a copy for spares.
- Keep the drive heatsink and enclosure filters clean; dust on the fins is the most common cause of overtemperature faults.
- Check terminal tightness at planned shutdowns, especially on panels exposed to vibration.
- Keep a spare control module or a parameter backup so a failed unit can be replaced quickly.
Operating in Oman and GCC conditions
Many drives in the region are installed in outdoor kiosks, pump houses and plant rooms without full air conditioning. Heat is the main factor that shortens drive life, so the enclosure should be sized to remove the 175 W of drive losses along with any other heat sources, using filtered fans, heat exchangers or air conditioning as required. Fine dust should be kept out of the drive with properly sealed enclosures and filtered ventilation. On long motor cables in pump stations, the cable length limits and any output filtering in the user manual should be followed to protect motor insulation.

About brand
Catalog numbers beginning 1756, 1734, 1746 or 5069 are read at a glance by anyone who maintains Allen-Bradley control panels. The brand, the control hardware name of Rockwell Automation, dates back to 1903 in Milwaukee, USA. Seven Star LLC sources and supplies Allen-Bradley PLC and I/O modules, communication adapters and PowerFlex drives for plants in Oman, matching catalog number, series letter and firmware against the manufacturer's documentation.
Allen-Bradley product families listed here
Current controller platforms on this page are ControlLogix, with the 1756-L85E ControlLogix 5580 controller and the 1756-PA72 chassis power supply, and CompactLogix 5380, with the 5069-L320ER and 5069-L340ERM. Distributed I/O is represented by POINT I/O: the 1734-AENTR dual-port EtherNet/IP adapter and the 1734-IB8 digital input module. Allen-Bradley drives listed include the PowerFlex 525 and PowerFlex 755. For installed systems there are SLC 500 parts: the 1746-A10 chassis, 1746-NI16I analog input module, 1747-ASB remote I/O adapter, 1747-KE interface and 1747-M13 memory module.
Where Allen-Bradley hardware is used
ControlLogix and CompactLogix controllers run packaged equipment and plant utilities: compressor and pump skids, water and wastewater plants, power distribution, material handling and packaging lines. PowerFlex drives control pumps, fans and conveyors. Many SLC 500 racks are still in service.
Ordering Allen-Bradley modules and drives: what we need
Send the full catalog number, the series letter and, for controllers and communication modules, the firmware revision printed on the side label. Compatibility with an existing project depends on these. For PowerFlex drives, give the complete catalog string, which encodes voltage, current rating, enclosure and options, plus the motor nameplate data. For SLC 500 parts, tell us the rack size and processor so that we can check slot and power supply loading in the manufacturer's manuals. A label photo avoids most mistakes.
