The JUMO LOGOSCREEN 700 (type 706530) is a highly scalable paperless recorder with an icon-based operating and visualization concept. Versions range from a device without measurement inputs that works on 120 process values received over an interface, through to devices with up to 18 universal analog inputs, 3 analog outputs, 18 digital inputs, 24 individually switchable digital inputs/outputs and 7 relay outputs.

The version with FDA-compliant data recording (extra code 888) fulfills the requirements of 21 CFR Part 11. For display, the device offers several visualizations, and with the setup program the user can build up to 10 process screens with up to 100 objects each. Batch processes can be documented with up to 5 batch recordings that store extra batch-related information.

An extra code adds structured text (ST code), so individual measurement and recording tasks can be programmed in the device. A 5.7 inch TFT color screen with 640 x 480 pixels and a resistive touchscreen forms the operating surface.

Data is stored in an encrypted format developed by JUMO, and measurement data in the working memory and the time are buffered by a lithium battery. The operating languages German, English, French, Spanish, Czech, Chinese, Russian and Italian are available, and users can add their own Unicode language versions.

Choosing inputs, options and extra codes

Start from the count and type of signals. Option cards for the four slots give three analog inputs, three high-resolution analog inputs with digital I/O, or six analog inputs each, and a further option provides 12 digital inputs/outputs or 6 relays. Check the order key against the number of channels you need and leave headroom for later additions.

Extra codes in the data sheet include 887 for manipulation detection with a digital device certificate, 888 for FDA 21 CFR Part 11 with up to 50 users, 949 for the TUS/SAT field test device, and 970 for a universal carrying case. The standard user management supports 5 users, rising to 50 with code 888.

Remote data can be read by PCC and evaluated with the PCA3000 program. The device also dispatches email through an SMTP server and synchronizes time through SNTP.

Measured values are recorded continuously at a sampling rate of 125 ms. Recording time depends on the memory cycle: about 42 days at 125 ms, 8 months at 1 s and 41 months at 5 s for a group of 6 analog channels storing average values. Choose a cycle that matches how fast your process changes.

Further channels include 20 math channels and 20 logic channels as options, 30 counters and integrators and 8 high-speed counters. Customer-specific linearization is possible with a table of up to 40 value pairs or a fourth-order polynomial, and GPS data in NMEA 0183 format can be recorded through the serial interface.

Applications

A paperless recorder replaces strip-chart or paper recorders on furnaces, dryers, heat-treatment lines, batch processes and general process monitoring. Batch reports, limit value monitoring for up to 120 analog values and flow measurement on up to 8 channels are built in.

For heat treatment, the TUS/SAT option with the TC terminal meets the +/-0.6 °C accuracy requirement of AMS2750G and CQI-9, which allows mobile use as a survey and test recorder.

Operating modes can be set for each group, with event operation having the highest priority, then time operation, then standard operation. This lets you record fast during a batch or alarm and slowly the rest of the time to save memory.

Plan the panel cut-out and the mounting depth early, since the unit has a 144 mm x 144 mm front frame with a front depth of about 8 mm including the seal, and a connection area at the rear that must stay accessible for service.
