PULS CT5.241 24V 5A 120W 3-Phase DIN Rail Power Supply

Description

A compact 120 W supply for 380-480 V industrial networks

The PULS CT5.241 is a 24 V, 5 A (120 W) DIN rail supply from the cost-optimised CT-Series for 380 to 480 Vac. Its main feature, according to the datasheet, is that it uses only two legs of a three-phase system. That saves wiring and installation cost and lets PULS use a smaller housing, 40 mm wide, without shrinking the terminals. Input fuses are already included, an input-transient blanking circuit filters mains disturbances, electronic inrush limiting keeps the current surge small, and a 20 % PowerBoost reserve (6 A) may be used continuously up to +45 C.

The CT5.241 is a good fit for panels on 400 V or 480 V networks without a neutral, where single-phase supplies would need a transformer. For higher power on the same networks see the QT40.241 and XT40.241 on this site.

What two-phase operation means for the installation

The unit connects to two phases (L1 and L2), so a three-phase conductor set is not required for this device. Because it draws only 0.75 A at 400 Vac, the datasheet states that an unbalancing of the individual phases is not expected. The low power factor of 0.45 at 400 Vac is typical of a simple supply without PFC: the apparent current is higher than the active power suggests, so size upstream protection and wiring accordingly. Input fuses are included inside the unit.

Installation notes

  • Snap the unit onto a standard top-hat rail with L1 and L2 terminals at the bottom; any other orientation requires derating.
  • Pick copper conductors for 60 C, 75 C or 90 C insulation according to the ambient band; ferrules are advisable on stranded wire.
  • Keep the PE connection; the supply is class of protection I.
  • Accessories: ZM1.WALL wall bracket and ZM12.SIDE side bracket.
  • Set the output voltage between 24 and 28 V with the front potentiometer to compensate cable drop.

Where it fits in GCC panels

Many drive, pump and compressor panels in Oman and the Gulf are fed from 400 V 3-phase boards and need only a small 24 V rail for relays, small PLCs and sensors. A 5 A unit that uses two phases avoids a control transformer and a dedicated single-phase circuit. For larger 24 V demand use one of the 3-phase DIMENSION supplies on this site. See the Power Modules category.

Selection and installation notes

A DIN-rail power supply is selected from the load current plus a margin of about twenty to thirty percent for start-up and ageing. Protect the input with the fuse or breaker the maker names, leave the clearances above and below for cooling, keep the output wiring short and check the output voltage under load.

FAQ

Questions about the PULS CT5.241 24V 5A 120W 3-Phase DIN Rail Power

Answers from our engineering team on installation, compatibility and integration.

01What input does the CT5.241 need?
AC 380-480 V (323 to 576 Vac range) from two legs of a three-phase system, 50-60 Hz.
02How much current does it deliver?
5 A at 24 V up to +60 C ambient and 6 A PowerBoost up to +45 C, according to the datasheet.
03Are input fuses included?
Yes, the datasheet lists input fuses as already included.
04Why is the power factor low?
The CT-Series is a cost-optimised design; the datasheet lists 0.45 at 400 Vac, so size upstream protection by input current.
05Is Seven Star LLC the maker of the CT5.241?
No. We are an independent supplier based in Muscat; tell us your mains voltage and load current and we will quote.
