PULS XT40.241 24V 40A 960W Semi-Regulated 3-Phase Power Supply
Description
A semi-regulated 3-phase supply built to replace a mains transformer
The PULS XT40.241 is not a conventional fully regulated switched-mode supply. PULS describes the X-Series as a semi-regulated power supply that generates an isolated DC voltage from a three-phase mains with maximum efficiency (95.5 %) and very competitive pricing, accepting a small compromise in output-voltage regulation, ripple and hold-up time. The datasheet names the primary use: supplying motors, valves and other high-power load circuits where an accurate output voltage is not required, and replacing mains transformers with rectifiers. The 24 V output is fixed at a factory setting of 24.1 V and cannot be adjusted.
XT40.241 is the 3AC 400 V version; the XT40.242 listed in the same datasheet is the 3AC 480 V version. Choose by your network voltage, not by the load.

Understanding the trade-offs
Three things to know before specifying a semi-regulated supply. First, the output follows the mains: load regulation of up to 800 mV and ripple of 1.5 V at 300 Hz mean it suits motors, brakes, valves, relays and lamps, but not sensitive electronics, so a downstream regulated supply or a CP/QT unit should feed PLCs and instruments. Second, the hold-up time is only about 2 ms, so a mains dip will drop the output sooner than on a regulated unit. Third, the supply is firmware-protected: if the output power stays above the nominal 960 W longer than the 15 s zone allows, it shuts down and restarts after the reset button is pressed or the input is cycled with at least 10 s off time.
Installation notes
- Mount on 35 mm DIN rail with the input terminals at the bottom; observe clearances in the datasheet.
- Provide external input protection because no internal fuse is included; chapter 23.4 describes the recommended devices.
- Use copper cable rated 60 C, 75 C or 90 C depending on ambient up to 45, 60 and 70 C.
- The unit has no electrolytic capacitors on the input side, which the datasheet lists as a lifetime benefit.
- Accessories in the order list: UF20.241 buffer unit and the SLR01 redundancy module.
Typical GCC uses
Semi-regulated 24 V suits pumping stations, gate and barrier motors, valve actuator banks and conveyor drives where a bank of 24 V loads is fed from a 400 V three-phase board and cost per watt matters more than tight regulation. In hot panels the full 40 A is available up to +60 C. For regulated 3-phase supply with parallel and remote functions choose the QT40.241 instead. Browse the Power Modules category for alternatives.
Selection and installation notes
A DIN-rail power supply is selected from the load current plus a margin of about twenty to thirty percent for start-up and ageing. Protect the input with the fuse or breaker the maker names, leave the clearances above and below for cooling, keep the output wiring short and check the output voltage under load. Where redundancy matters, use a decoupling module and two supplies rather than one larger unit.
Information needed for a quotation
Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.
Documents and supply information
The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.
Frequently asked questions
What does semi-regulated mean for the XT40.241?
The output is not adjustable and follows the mains with a small compromise in regulation, ripple and hold-up time; the datasheet positions it as a transformer replacement.
What input voltage does the XT40.241 need?
It is the 3AC 400 V version. The XT40.242 in the same datasheet is for 3AC 480 V.
Can I use it to power a PLC?
The datasheet says it is intended for loads where accurate regulation is not required, such as motors and valves. Power sensitive electronics from a regulated supply.
How long can it supply 1 200 W?
It can deliver 1 200 W for up to 15 s; beyond the permitted zone it shuts down and needs a reset or an input power cycle.
