PULS QT40.241 24V 40A 960W Three-Phase DIN Rail Power Supply

Description

A 960 W three-phase supply for heavy 24 V loads

The PULS QT40.241 converts a 3-phase 380 to 480 V mains into 24 V at up to 40 A. It belongs to the Q-Series and combines 95.3 % full-load efficiency with a housing only 110 mm wide and 1.5 kg in weight. A 50 % BonusPower reserve (60 A, 1 440 W for up to 4 seconds) helps to start DC motors and capacitive loads, and a 110 A, 10 ms peak current helps to trip faulty branch fuses. Three input fuses are included, so no extra external protection hardware is needed on the supply itself.

The QT40.242 listed in the same datasheet is the extra-long-lifetime version of the same unit; the datasheet quotes about 93 000 h against 69 000 h calculated lifetime at 3AC 400 V, 24 V, 40 A and +40 C.

Parallel use, remote control and diagnostics

The QT40 can be switched between Single Use and Parallel Use. In parallel mode the datasheet applies a deliberate output-voltage droop (typ. 1 V from 0 to 40 A) so that identical units share the current. The shut-down input at pins 15 and 16 doubles as a remote control for the output voltage: a control voltage (maximum +50 V) applied between pin 15 and the negative output moves the output between typically 14 V and 28 V. PULS advises not changing the voltage by more than 4 V more than 50 times a day to protect lifetime. A red overload LED, a green DC-OK LED and the relay contact give quick diagnosis, and internal data logging supports troubleshooting.

Installation notes

  • Mount on 35 mm DIN rail; wall mounting with the ZM2.WALL bracket allows higher shock and vibration levels than DIN-rail mounting.
  • Daisy-chaining of outputs is allowed only up to the terminal current limit given in the datasheet; use distribution terminals for higher currents.
  • Cable rating: 60 C up to +45 C ambient, 75 C up to +60 C, 90 C up to +70 C; copper only.
  • The unit is suitable for TN, TT and IT networks; grounding of one phase is allowed.
  • Datasheet chapter 26.4 gives derating curves for operation on only two legs of a 3-phase system.

GCC applications and related items

Three-phase 24 V power is typical for large PLC panels, compressor and pump skids, packaging lines and substation auxiliary supplies on 400 V networks. The 3AC 380 to 480 V range covers both the 400 V grids of Oman and the Gulf and 480 V skid supplies delivered with imported process equipment. The datasheet lists the ZM2.WALL bracket, the UF20.241 buffer unit and the YR80.241 redundancy module as accessories. See the Power Modules category for related supplies.

Selection and installation notes

A DIN-rail power supply is selected from the load current plus a margin of about twenty to thirty percent for start-up and ageing. Protect the input with the fuse or breaker the maker names, leave the clearances above and below for cooling, keep the output wiring short and check the output voltage under load. Where redundancy matters, use a decoupling module and two supplies rather than one larger unit.

Information needed for a quotation

Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.

Documents and supply information

The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.
