Brand: Mean Well
Mean Well XTR-240-24 Three-Phase DIN Rail Power Supply
Description
Three-phase 24 V supply in a 48 mm wide housing
The Mean Well XTR-240-24 is a 240 W three-phase DIN rail power supply with a 24 V DC output at 10 A. The XTR-240 series packs a 320 to 600 Vac input (450 to 800 Vdc) into a housing only 48 mm wide, and Mean Well quotes an efficiency up to 93.5% and a typical no-load consumption of 2.5 W at 400 Vac.
The 24 V model delivers a 150% peak of 15 A (360 W) for 5 seconds, which gives the supply enough headroom for motor starters and capacitive loads. A relay DC OK contact is standard, parallel operation up to 960 W (3+1) is available on request, and the operating range is -40 to +85 C with derating above +60 C. The XTR-240-24 uses screw terminals; lever-actuated (LA) and push-in (PI) versions are separate variants.

Peak power and low inrush
The 150% peak rating for 5 seconds is the main reason to pick this supply over a plain 240 W unit. Combined with a cold-start inrush below 10 A at 400 Vac, it eases the demands on upstream breakers and lets several supplies start from one feeder. The temperature rating from -40 to +85 C widens the use in outdoor and enclosed cabinets, but heat still shortens life, so keep ventilation space around the unit.
Terminal types and ordering notes
The catalogue code with no suffix denotes screw terminals; LA indicates lever-actuated terminals and PI push-in terminals, and the P option denotes parallel capability. Specify the exact suffix in your enquiry. The datasheet lists Class I, Div. 2 hazardous location approval, DNV marine approval and SEMI F47 compliance for the series; confirm the specific certificates for the variant you order. For critical loads plan a spare unit of the same suffix, since terminal style differs between the screw, lever-actuated and push-in versions.

How the XTR-240-24 works
The XTR-240-24 is designed for three-phase or high-voltage DC networks. Its block diagram shows an EMI filter and rectifiers with passive PFC, a PWM power switching stage, and output rectifiers and filter that create the isolated 24 V rail. An ORing FET on the output allows parallel or redundant operation, and over-voltage protection works in hiccup mode. The control loop keeps the output within its tolerance across the full input range.
Selection & Ordering Guide
The XTR-240 series has four output voltages:
- XTR-240-12: 12 V DC, 15 A
- XTR-240-24: 24 V DC, 10 A
- XTR-240-36: 36 V DC, 6.66 A
- XTR-240-48: 48 V DC, 5 A
Choose the XTR-240-24 when the panel is fed from 400 Vac phase-to-phase or a high-voltage DC bus and needs 240 W at 24 V in a narrow 48 mm housing. The ORing FET makes redundant configurations simpler.
Installation & Maintenance
- Isolate and lock out the supply circuit before wiring; installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
- Use the conductor sizes, terminal data and protective earth connection shown in the official datasheet.
- Respect the mounting orientation and clearances given by Mean Well so that the cooling of the XTR-240-24 works as designed.
- After commissioning, measure the output voltage at the load and trim it only within the documented adjustment range.
- During planned maintenance, check terminals for tightness and discolouration, remove dust, and confirm that the cabinet temperature stays inside the derating curve.
Typical Applications in Oman & the GCC
In Oman and the GCC the XTR-240-24 suits motor control centres, oil and gas skids, solar and battery DC systems, water pumping stations and industrial cabinets where a neutral is not available and the supply must run directly from line-to-line voltage.
Why Source from Seven Star LLC
Seven Star LLC supplies Mean Well products, including the XTR-240-24, to panel builders, contractors and maintenance teams across Oman and the GCC. Send us the model code and quantity to request a quote, and our team can help confirm the correct ordering code, the right variant and any accessories for your project. When you are replacing an existing unit, share the nameplate data and we will compare it with the official XTR-240 documentation before you order.
Wiring and commissioning notes for the XTR-240-24
Before energising the XTR-240-24, confirm that the input wiring matches the terminal markings and that the protective earth is connected. Size the output cables for the full 10 A load plus a margin, and keep cable runs to the loads short to limit voltage drop on the 24 V rail. After start-up, measure the output voltage at the load terminals and trim it with the adjustment potentiometer if the cable drop requires it. Check the actual enclosure temperature at full load against the derating curve in the datasheet, which is important in hot plant rooms and outdoor cabinets in Oman and the GCC.

About brand
Mean Well is a Taiwanese manufacturer of standard power supplies, founded in 1982 and headquartered in New Taipei City. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, lists Mean Well DIN rail, enclosed and DC-DC power supplies for control panels, automation equipment and electronics.
Mean Well power supply families
The catalogue covers DIN rail power supplies from 15 W to several hundred watts in single-phase and three-phase versions, enclosed chassis supplies with fan or convection cooling, medical-standard supplies, DIN rail DC-DC converters and many other formats. Each series has a datasheet that lists all output voltages, derating curves and approvals. The standard catalogue format suits machine builders, panel builders and maintenance teams that need a documented, replaceable supply rather than a custom design.
