Grandstream GXP2170 12-Line Enterprise HD IP Phone

Description

The Grandstream GXP2170 is a top-of-the-range enterprise IP phone for busy desks: 12 line keys with up to 6 SIP accounts, a 4.3 inch 480×272 colour display, HD audio, dual Gigabit ports with integrated PoE and built-in Bluetooth. It adds 48 digitally programmable BLF or speed-dial keys and can drive up to four GXP2200 EXT modules for a total of 160 speed-dial or BLF contacts.

It targets reception, executive-assistant, operator and dispatch positions where one person handles many extensions and calls at once.

Why a 12-line phone suits high-volume desks

Every line key has a dual-colour LED, so an operator sees busy, ringing and held calls at a glance, while the 48 on-screen BLF keys show presence for colleagues across a plant or head office. Five-way audio conferencing, call park and pickup, shared and bridged line appearance and hot desking are listed in the telephony features. Paired with a Grandstream UCM IP PBX, the phone can be zero-config provisioned and supports one-touch call recording, as the datasheet notes. This makes it a sound match for control-room dispatch, a security gatehouse switchboard or a hotel front desk.

Selection and deployment guide

Choose the GXP2170 when one user needs more than the 3 to 8 lines of the smaller GXP models. For a sparse office the GXP1630 is cheaper; for carrier-grade security with Wi-Fi look at the GRP2614. Count BLF keys: 48 on-screen plus up to 160 with four extension modules is far more than most roles need. Plan PoE budget: the datasheet gives 5.4 W without modules and 9.2 W with four, within an 802.3af port.

Installation and setup notes

Install on a desk using one of the two stand angles, or wall mount (the wall mount is sold separately). Connect uplink on the first Ethernet port and a PC on the second, set VLAN and QoS tags, then provision from UCM zero-config or a TR-069 server. Use TLS and SRTP for remote extensions, and change the default admin password on first boot.

Where it is used in the GCC

Typical GCC deployments are reception desks at head offices, call centres, hotel and resort front desks, port and airport operations rooms, and plant control rooms with several intercom or radio-gateway lines. The datasheet language list reads English, German, Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Croatian, Chinese, Korean, Japanese and more, so confirm Arabic availability for the firmware you will use.

Accessories and related items

Order GXP2200 EXT expansion modules (each under 1.2 W per the datasheet), a wall mount bracket, a Plantronics EHS headset cable and, for PBX use, a Grandstream UCM series IP PBX. Other networking and voice products are in Industrial Communications.

Sizing example (derived): if all 12 line keys are assigned to the 6 SIP accounts, each account could appear twice, and the 48 BLF or speed-dial keys then cover a team of that size. Expansion modules matter mainly for reception and operator desks that monitor many extensions.
