Grandstream GWN7630 802.11ac Wave-2 4×4:4 Access Point
Description
The Grandstream GWN7630 is an 802.11ac Wave-2 4×4:4 dual-band indoor access point with MU-MIMO, 2.5 Gbps aggregate wireless throughput, 200+ concurrent clients and two Gigabit ports with PoE/PoE+. It uses four antennas per unit (4 dBi at 2.4 GHz, 5 dBi at 5 GHz) and transmits up to 27 dBm on 2.4 GHz and 25 dBm on 5 GHz.
It is the higher-power, higher-stream Wi-Fi 5 model for multi-floor offices, commercial sites and branch locations.
A four-stream Wi-Fi 5 access point for medium-density sites
The 4×4:4 radio design gives more spatial streams than the GWN7660’s 2×2:2 and a higher transmit power, so one GWN7630 can cover a larger open floor or a lobby where client devices are still Wi-Fi 5 or older. As with other GWN APs, there is no controller appliance: a lightweight master mode in the AP manages up to 50 APs, with GWN.Cloud for 50 or more. It supports voice-over-Wi-Fi with advanced QoS, mesh networks and captive portals.
Features from the datasheet
- IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wave-2; dual-band 4×4:4 (MIMO on 2.4 GHz, MU-MIMO on 5 GHz)
- Anti-hacking secure boot with digital signatures, unique certificate and random default password per device
- Up to 175 m coverage; 200+ concurrent clients; 15 SSIDs per access point
- WEP, WPA/WPA2-PSK and WPA/WPA2 Enterprise
- Advanced QoS for low-latency real-time applications
- 2.5 Gbps wireless throughput; 2 Gigabit ports; self power adaptation to PoE or PoE+

GWN7630 versus the GWN7660
The GWN7630 offers more streams (4×4:4) and a higher 2.4 GHz transmit power, while the GWN7660 offers the newer Wi-Fi 6 standard, a higher client count (500+) and 16 SSIDs per radio. Choose the GWN7630 where the Wi-Fi 5 client base is large and range matters, and the GWN7660 where Wi-Fi 6 clients dominate. The 16.5 W maximum draw means an 802.3at (PoE+) port is advisable, since the datasheet lists PoE 802.3at.
Installation notes
Mount on a ceiling or wall with the supplied kit, power from a PoE+ switch, and adopt the AP in the master AP interface or GWN.Cloud. Use 20 MHz channels on 2.4 GHz and 40 or 80 MHz on 5 GHz depending on density. The 175 metre range in the datasheet is an open-space figure, so plan with a survey in buildings with block walls.
GCC applications
Typical uses are multi-floor offices, showrooms, hotel lobbies, conference centres, schools and branch offices. As an indoor model with a 0 to 40 C operating range it should not be installed in open sheds or plenum spaces that exceed that.
PoE budget (derived): at the 16.5 W maximum from the datasheet, ten units need 165 W and twenty-four need 396 W of switch budget. One embedded master manages up to 50 local APs, so the switch budget is usually the first limit on a single-site rollout. User load (derived): at 200+ clients per unit, a floor with 400 simultaneous users would call for at least two units before any safety margin.
Selection and installation notes
Plan a wireless network from a site survey, not from the data sheet range alone. Walls, floors and metal structures reduce coverage, so place access points at the centre of the area they serve, away from obstacles, and set the channels and power so that neighbouring units do not interfere. Confirm the PoE standard and the switch budget, the number of clients and the management platform, and change the default passwords at commissioning.
Information needed for a quotation
Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.
Documents and supply information
The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.
